University of Oklahoma COP Class of 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I thought I'd start a thread for people interested in the University of Oklahoma COP class of 2014.

Submitted my application before the Nov 1 deadline but have not heard back from the school. Have they started interviews already?

no worries, interviews are not until later. although i heard this year they tried a new thing and had one early interview date for people who finished their application early, but most of the interviews will be at a later date usually end of february and beginning of march. when i applied they told me mid january about the interview.

WHOO-HOO, I received my first interview for today! I will have it on January 13th! Anyone else?

There was one round of interviews on December 3rd for what were called "highly qualified applicants". There will be two more interview dates in late Jan/early Feb.

Yeah, they did. I saw a whole bunch of them at the interviews. They looked awfully young and not quite ready. I was hoping for some powerful rich kids so next year will be normal but they looked poopy. 😀
If you got an interview letter, tell the committee (usually a p4, a teacher, and a pharmacist) that you hate Sam and that it should help you some what. Also, there is a list of the old deans that available that many faculties owed their gratitude to, that you could bargain for sympathy. That leave only the pharmacist, so you got to used your brain. If she is a retailer Rx, said you wanted to be in research or vice versa. It's mostly women.
Good luck.

I got an interview for Jan. 13th, and it also said it was an early, "highly qualified applicant" interview. New thing this year I guess.

I guess they changed the format this year. Jan 13 and Feb 27th for interviews. I will be volunteering at the Feb 27th interview.

I will be bringing one of my relatives along because I don't like traveling alone. I was wondering if there is a tour set up for those who are accompanying the interviewees. Regarding the interview layout, is there a group interaction segment as well?

As far as interviews go, do the interviewers have everything about the applicant in front of them when interviewing students? I know that some schools give the professors personal statement/GPAs/PCAT scores/Resumes but other schools don't give the professors anything.

Thank you for your input!

Yeah, I'll be interviewing both days. The format is very different this year.....hmmmm......

It seems they changed the format this year so I'm not quite sure how the format will be, but for my year it was one interview with 3 people in the room (faculty, student, preceptor). I know they had my personal statement because they commented on it. I believe they had access to everything else as well but they didn't comment on it so I'm not sure. As for bringing a relative I remember for my interview, they said not to bring anyone with you who is not interviewing.

If there has already been an interview before now, then why did I get an invitation for an "early interview" for "highly qualified applicants" on January 13? Wouldn't that be considered an interview only, and not an early one?

Yes, there has been one round but I wouldn't worry. There are still two more rounds of interview.

Whoa, so there are only 3 interview dates? Wow, I feel very lucky, blessed, and very happy now that I got chosen for one of the three. 😍 I was wondering if there are any special papers I should bring like immunization records or transcripts?

No, those things will be collected from you if you are accepted and decide to attend OU.

I got an interview for January 13th I think I already got accepted somewhere else so i will be turning it down🙂 hope someone gets my spot🙂

Sorry to repeat this...I feared that it got lost in the shuffle, but:

I'm not sure, but they considered both sessions early interviews. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Alright...I just really want to go to OU! Just a little pre-interview anxiety.

About how many applicants interview per round? Does anyone know?

Did any of you guys receive any emails or letters to confirm your application was received or acknowledgment of completion? I had an issue with MCPHS Worcestor (which OU also uses the same supp app system) where they never received my supp app until I called. I called the lady and she said to check my status online which says submitted (I believe, it's been a while).

I don't remember receiving an email indicating that they received the supplemental portion (I did, however, get an email saying that they received the PharmCAS portion and I should submit the supp part if I hadn't already). I did call to make sure that they had it though, which they did.

I received an email saying they received my PharmCAS portion, too, and to submit a supp app and ignore if I did.

Just had the 11:30 - 4:00 session and got back from the interview. I was told by other people in my group that they were all asked different questions so I think it's pretty much at your individual interviewer's discretion what they asked you. It was 3 females for me: faculty member, some kind of research liason, and a P4. Can't say it went good or bad but I remember wiping sweat off of my brow and I'm sure they looked nervous. I thought about the questions afterward and if there was any way I could've answered them better but honestly they were all a bit weird. Oh well, gave it my best shot.

I was mad because I'd seen another girl at a gym around OU (I live in OKC) who was a P3 and she told me all her interview questions and I spent like 4 hours coming up with all of these elaborate responses and then the stuff they asked was totally different.

I am curious to see (as others were saying) whether the Jan 13th date truly was an early interview date for the most competitive applicants or it is just OU's new format. I think there were about 50 people in my half day session which makes approx 100 for the day.

Fingers are crossed.....

Has anyone heard back yet after their interviews?

The suspense is terrible. Did you request OKC or Tulsa?

At the interview, we were told by email within 2 weeks.

I forgot to post on here. Anyone who has a later interview date than my date, please feel free to PM me. I understand how it's like to have a lot of questions about the interview process. I'll be happy to help!

Woo hoo I just got an email saying that I was accepted!! I am ecstatic! I definitely didn't think that I did well at all during the Jan. 13th interview. On two different occasions I mushed all my words together and had to repeat myself. The interview only lasted 10-15 minutes which worried me, and they only asked me like 4 easy questions. I would say don't be nervous, but I was definitely shaking during my interview. Good luck to everyone with interviews coming up!

Thank you so much, Cyclo! What a way to make my day, let me tell you

Same here! I didn't think my interview went well, but I got an email saying that I was accepted!!!! 🙂 Don't be too nervous and good luck everyone!

I am at the OKC campus... It was downtown and amazing! I am from Dallas, and it felt like home. Anyone else at the OKC campus??

Dang it.... did not get the email. Based on what I know from past experience about admissions commitees giving out notices in waves, I don't think I got it. I think it was all because it was my first interview for professional school ever. Just had an interview yesterday at LECOM in Pennsylvania and it went much better. It is also a 3 year program so I will keep my fingers crossed. Congrats to all who got in. I have lucked out many times in my life but this wasn't one of those times....:scared:.

For those of you who were accepted to OU Pharmacy, could you tell me your composite PCAT? (...if you still care at this point...)

my composite PCAT score was a 94, but I'm sure it doesnt need to be close to that if you are more competitive in other areas. I have always scored well on standardized tests. Don't be too discouraged, just because you haven't heard anything yet doesnt mean your are not in!

Was the January 13th date the only interview date?

There is still a Feb. interview date so there is still a possibility. One of my classmates did not find out until summer actually.

I got accepted got my email on the 19th!!! I made an 86 on my PCAT have 2 years of pharm experience, and also am finishing my bachelor's in may. I knew a lot of the faculty from my pharmacy and our pharmacy also has 4 students in the program now. I will be attending the Tulsa campus and can't wait to start!

I just received an email from them today for an interview on Feb. 27th. What do you think my chances are of getting in?

I have my my interview on Feb 27th as well! See you guys there!

I got an interview for Feb 27 but I am not sure if I will go. I already got accepted to a school closer to home and I also have an interview the same day (Iowa though since I got accepted to a different school I am not sure I will attend that one either)

I got my interview invite today, too. I am very surprised considering it is a public school with rich history. Any advice for the interview, I will be forever grateful! I am excited and I hope to get in, too!
