Starvin Marvin said:I got in on Tuesday as well (through email). I wonder if there's something to that whole 6-6-06 date... At least it looks like the list is moving a little now.

Congrats! Did they give you fin. aid. information with their offer, so that you can consider that in your decision?Starvin Marvin said:Thanks. Not exactly sure yet. I'll have the weekend to think about it. I think it's mostly going to come down to money as the cost of attending my state school will be significantly less.

I just got the call this morning! WAHOO! Im sooo excited. 😀
Now i have to figure out if i can shell out $$$ vs going to my state school.![]()

Welcome aboard. Good luck making the financial decision; it's a tough one, no doubt. I think this is the budget they list for out of state students:
Tuition $ 36,958
Fees $ 650
Health Insurance $ 2,230
Books & Supplies $ 2,000
Rent/Food/Personal/
Transportation $ 15,000
Total Estimated Cost $ 56,958
The maximum federal loan this year, I think, is around 42k...so if you're willing to take government loans and then find ways to either a)trim the Rent/Food/Personal/Transportation budget or b) find private funding or c) trip over a bag of money, it's difficult but doable.
Best of luck, hope you come to Pitt!
CuddlyKumquat said:omg...im so worried now, since the financial aspect seems obsurd. Do you think i have any chance of getting grants from the school at all?
And yes, I hounded Dr. Piraino like a madwoman. I think she's gonna remember me when orientation swings around 😱
AGAPE487 said:Hey Cuddly,
Congrads.!!! I bet you are very excited. About the money, they gave me a good package so don't stress to much. If money is a big factor see how much you get and then decide, if you can. But from reading your previous post it seems like you really love Pitt and if you love a school as much as you do and think it offers you something that your state school will not then don;t worry about the money because it will come..eventually 🙂 . And I am sure something is sure to work out. Goodluck with your decision.
MiesVanDerMom said:I've been following this thread and just wanted to say Congrats Cuddly!! You give me hope for next year 🙂 Good luck working out the finances. Maybe I'll see you around Oakland. 👍
ETA: as far as the $15,000 for rent/food personal goes. The bus is free for students and there are nice/safe/cute neighborhoods where you can rent for say $500/month. Food here is as reasonable as anyplace. So, I think $15,000 is a bit inflated. There's no need to live right in Oakland. Pittsburgh's a cheap city. I think you'll be fine.
Also: when you say you hounded admissions: what exactly did you do? could you give us future waitlisters (well, hopefully I'll get an interview anyway...) any tips?
