Hey all, im only a senior in high school but i'm all about getting into med. school. Anyways, I've been searchin' through a medical school book i bought, and came upon University of Rochester. I am going to Rochester Institute of Technology for my undergrad, so how nice would that be if i got accepted to Univ. of Roch.? anyways, I saw that they do now require you to pass the USMLE for promotion to the third year. This seems odd to me, since that every other med. school in the frickin book says that you must pass it. First of all, what is it? And i hear that you have to pass part to of USMLE the 4th year before graduation? Finally, I'm definitely not at the top of my senior class right now, like 39/200 students, but i try so hard and i take all ap classes and such. Am i a good candidate to pursue this dream? thanks a lot for putting up w/ me.

No offense dude, but you need to get a life. If I were you I would focus on aquiring a fake ID before I start worrying about the USMLE.

ok, thanks for your input and yeah i do need a life...but i dont understand what you were refering that to

Dude, take a chill pill. Ironically, it is the people who stress least over the process that are the most successful in the application game. There's no way of telling if you're fit for medicine yet. I know people who made 5's on 6 AP tests but fizzled out or worked really hard in HS and got burned out by their second semester of college.

Goto a school where you can do well and have fun. Don't worry about anything for now but your classes. Every med school requires MCATs to get in and USMLE's to pass through. If you choose this career path you can't stress about tests, as you will be up against them all your life, just go with the flow.

Take it easy, learn what medicine is all about, then decide if it is right for you.

Good luck!
