University of Texas 2018 Application Thread

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
This is probably the only one on this site at least. I've read the forums from the incoming class last year and they started posting their acceptances after the second committee meeting.
I just read it and it looks like it took about 3 days after the first meeting for them to start sending out acceptance letters. So maybe around the 15th or 16th? Hopefully!D:

oh whoops. Guess I wasn't lurking hard enough haha.

lol oh boy! I keep refreshing the page ever 15 minutes or so! Oh and I jump every time my phone rings!

lol. I wonder what if somebody got in and when they received a call they was not able to pick up? The admission is going to leave voicemail?

For another school at least, I received both an email about the acceptance and a voicemail to call back at a convenient time.

A friend of mine who is a P3 said that they're going to start calling on Tuesday

Just got a call saying I was accepted at 9:37!!! Such a relief! Good luck to the rest of y'all!

Got a called at 10:02 and acceptance email at 10:48. Good luck everyone!

Accepted!!! I missed the call since I was in class, but I saw it was from Texas and scrambled to listen to the voicemail afterwards. Congrats to everyone who got in, and good luck to the others!

pcat 92, gpa 3.4, 2 years pharmacy technician, LORS: 1 retail pharmacist, 2 UT pharmacy school professors, 1 undergrad academic professor, a lot of volunteer work (in a hospital pharmacy, research labs on and off-campus, and other school organization events), held officer positions of student organizations/was active in student orgs, have a B.S. in HDFS from UT

For those that got accepted, did you guys had interview on Jan 24/25th or Jan31/ Feb 1? I had my interview on Jan 31st... when can I expect to hear back from UT?

Yes, it'd be very helpful for those accepted to post when they had their interview! 🙂

Interviewed on Jan 25th. I don't think the adcom went through the candidates based on the interview dates since last year three of my friends from the second round got their acceptances after the first adcom meeting. Also, from last year people got called until 5 ish. Hang in there.

They still have another meeting y'all. So keep that in mind if you haven't gotten a phone call yet.

I interviewed Feb 1 and am out of state. I got the acceptance call around 11:30 this morning.

I did a phone interview on Jan 31st since my flight was cancelled on Jan 24th and the school was closed.

Accepted! pcat 92, gpa 4.0, bachelor degree from international college, CPhT with 7 years experience, LORS: 3 pharmacists, 1 professor/pharmacist, some volunteer work, ASHP and TSHP member. Interviewed on Jan.31.

Will they still be calling tomorrow or do they call everyone from the first adcom meeting today and then call everyone for the second adcom meeting one day next week?

I hope they're still calling people tomorrow/:

Those are some nice stats. I just really hope they are still doing phone calls. Well I know they are having another meeting wednesday, but I'm on the edge of my seat!

Got accepted around 10:30AM this morning. Stats are GPA 3.6, PCAT 87, 2 LOR from Pharm, 2 from Prof., Research for 2 years w/ a published paper, TA for one year, BS in Molecular Biology, pharm tech for 1.5 years, some leadership and volunteer stuff. My interview was February 8, (had to do a skype interview because of bad weather) so I don't think it matters when you had your interview. I'm in-state. I'm sure they still have plenty of people to call!

Has everyone that got a phone call also received an email?

No, I haven't. I'm pretty sure the guy on the phone said that they would send an email sometime before the 19th, but I could be remembering wrong because I was too busy being excited.

the stats are are all really good! i'm getting more nervous now 🙁

I received a phone call but could not pick it up since I was in class. If you are accepted, Dean Wilcox will call/ leave voice mail/ email to let you know ASAP. There is also this in my email:
To help answer questions you may have, in the next few days you will be receiving an email from a current UT Pharm.D. student who serves on our contact team. Our student pharmacists will remain in touch with you throughout the spring and summer. Of course you are also welcome to contact our admissions office at any time.
The adcom still have one more meeting guys!!! And they typically send out 140-ish invitations so hang in there. You still have plenty of chances.

So I guess today is the last day of acceptance? If not then I'd better look elsewhere?

Accepted! :soexcited: Missed the call around 10:30 yesterday morning. Reapplicant with PCAT 97, 3.6 GPA and B.S. , 200 hours volunteer, Bio Lab TA, and 1 year pharm tech experience. Thought I bombed the interview though, was kind of a nervous wreck.

I don't think so, someone said earlier that there's still another round of reviews coming up (this week?), so there's still hope.

Congrats!! I thought my interview went well up until the very last question I was asked...I was unprepared for them to ask me the question of, "Why should we pick you over another candidate?"

Don't give up!!! This is not your last chance yet so hang in there friend. The adcom still have a meeting tomorrow to discuss the last half of the candidates that they have not discussed last week. And then there is still the waitlist, I know at least 3 people got accepted from the waitlist last year. However, if you do not hear after the second adcom meet up and don't get the email about the waitlist, start looking if you really want to go to pharm school in the fall.

  • Not a CPhT but am volunteering at a hospital outpatient pharmacy for a year plus now.
  • 4 LoRs: two letters of recommendation from two pharmacists at where I volunteer at, one from a UT pharm professor that I used to intern for in his lab, one from an old PI of the lab before.
  • Working with the UT Learning Center to support science classes for pre-health majors, UGTA for a freshman research technique labs.
  • Continuous research experience since spring semester of freshman.
My stat is not at all outstanding but I compensate for my lame academic stats with essa, LoR, working experience, leadership experience, volunteer etc. It's like since I only have two 6s for my GPA and PCAT score, I gotta bump my total score of the 9 categories I am being ranked in by other ways.

For those of you that are reapplicants, did you get an interview last time you applied?

What does everyone's status say on the ut eid? Mine says incomplete/: does that mean they just haven't reviewed mine?

Mine says the same thing and I haven't heard any yet either.
Should we email Dr. Wilcox and ask if ours is under review yet? I have seen past applicants do that, but I don't want to seem pushy/:

I'm thinking the same too. I don't want to be pushy either, but I really do wonder about that status.
For the people that got accepted, does your status on UT direct say something other than "incomplete"?

I'M IN! :soexcited: First-time out-of-state applicant about to finish my BS, 99 PCAT, 3.85 GPA, 9 months as pharm tech, additional 9 months of frequent shadowing, 1 year medical research, with an officer position in pre-pharmacy organization.

I'm so excited -- and looking forward to hearing good news from everyone else! 🙂
