Got into the Houston Campus- MPH Epidemiology.

I just got an email last week asking me to check my status on myUTH. No formal acceptance email.

Does anyone know when is the last day when we can notify our intention of attending UTHSC MPH? I emailed student affairs but no response yet. I am still waiting on other schools to respond.
 
I sent in a ton of emails over the last few weeks to UTHouston asking various questions. Not one has been answered so far. Is this how disorganized the program is? Or is this an anomaly?

I honestly have no idea what's going.
It was the same during my initial application through SOPHAS. I had questions. Nobody at the admissions office replied my emails . I had to finally mail the dean's (I think) office, who forwarded my mail to the office I had initially mailed. Only then did I get a response.

Any current UTH student here? Can I get an email address I can direct questions to (and an email I'm guaranteed to get replies from). Thanks.

Hey everyone,

My professor is related to one of the admissions people. According to him, UTSPH is planning to host an admit day on March 22.
 
They do have an Open House scheduled on their calendar for March 22.

It looks like there are no more scholarships for incoming students, according to their website. I haven't had a chance to call and confirm, but I think we're all out of luck.
 
Did anyone get any scholarship? I just received an email stating my acceptance. No snail mail yet.

Where did you find the information that there are no more scholarships?
 
Who are we supposed to call? I called the Financial Aid office and they were unhelpful, but just told me they weren't the ones to contact.

I got nervous about the scholarships because this page was down: https://sph.uth.edu/admissions/financial-assistance/scholarships-for-new-students/
and in its place was only an application for scholarships for continuing students.

However, on last year's thread for UT, I remember reading that it was quite late before they notified people about scholarship.
 
I got the postal mail acceptance letter. No word of any scholarship.. 🙁 .. Does that mean i am not getting any scholarship? I was hoping for something from UTHSC..

Does anyone know anything about the open house this Friday?

Like....if it's still happening? What times? I have not heard ANYTHING from the school about this.
 
Same her. Havent heard anything from them. They said I wouls be notified by post but im still waiting 🙁

That is interesting, I had the opposite experience during my application because all my emails were replied within 3 days (except weekends or holidays). But it seems you're not the only one they're doing that to.
Are you contacting them to find out more about the city/program? I'm moving to Houston next year as well so I'm looking for that information, without contacting them. The following page has a Survival Guide that might be helpful (some student emails are at the end of the PDF file).

As for the cost of living in Houston, based on how I'm living in Austin, the minimum for me is $8,000-10,000.
 
Does anyone know when financial aid packages will be distributed? Or which teachers to pick 😛. I am going to an info session soon, but I want a heads up.
 
Yesterday I received my postal mail of acceptance. Surprisingly they have mentioned that there are NO scholarship for international MPH student. This is very weird.:annoyed: They Should have mentioned it in their application webpage. If I knew that before I would have Never applied!!😡:cry:

Though im annoyed because after i accepted their offer, i got an email from the academic advisor as well who was really sweet. But after all this my status on myuth says Incomplete or waitlisted. I am not notified why and what to do!!! im so confused. is anyone going through the same???
 
@Laughing Man- you a student at the Univ of Texas Houston currently?
 
Even my status is Incomplete/ Waitlist!! I mailed my academic advisor, but have not received a reply yet. I'm an international student and got an e-mail asking to submit the Non-resident Financial Resources form for I20. Has anybody submitted the same? I had a few doubts about it..
 
Sophie1- I called up the unv and they said its perfect if it shows waitlisted or incomplete and there is nothing to worry. What doubts do you hav regarding the financial resources form?
 
For the bank statement verifying the funds in your sponsor's account, is a solvency certificate stating that your sponsor is capable of paying the amount accepted? Or do the funds actually have to exist in the account? Did u receive your I20?
 
Got into the MPH in Biostats. Have been talking with my future adviser who is such a nice guy. He is even thinking about my class schedule now. I will prob go there this fall 🙂. Anyone going to? I am a international student BTW, but already in US.

Suf12.... My mail said no Federal aid and scholarships for international students..

I hope thats the case and not the scholarships provided by UTHSC.

I have decided to attend UTSPH this upcoming fall. I'm currently living in Houston so I wanted to see if anybody wanted to meet up and have a get-together 🙂 Since we'll be spending the next two years together, it'd be great to start getting to know each other!

Let me know if this is something that interests you and I'll plan this.

Has anyone heard any word on scholarships or financial aid? The website says students are notified of scholarship upon admittance. The admittance letter I received by email did not mention anything about scholarships so I assume I am out of luck, but am curious if anyone else received a new student scholarship. Also, so far no word on financial aid. I've only received financial aid information from one school out of the 5 i've been accepted to and I'm starting to get frustrated since deadlines are approaching.

I have been following this group for some time but haven't posted yet.. I have been accepted to the doctoral program in the MPACH division at Houston and am excited about it..

How did you accept their offer of admission? Did you require any enrollment fee??
 
Current students: how easy is it to get research or teaching assistantships?

And what percent of students get employed post MPH?
