Just curious if anyone has attended, been accepted or knows anything about their MOT program? I was accepted but I have not heard too much about the program/ the school in general. Any information would be great!

Thanks!

Yes! I received an acceptance packet from them yesterday -- what a nice Christmas present. 🙂 I don't know if I will attend since the tuition is ~$37k a year. They did give me a $5k grant per year though...but that's barely anything. Did you get any money from them?
I only know that USP has a small campus but near City Center so it's very convenient. I've heard mixed things about them but the comments are from pharmacy students...
Are you from Philly?

Hey guys, just wondering when you applied to recieve an acceptance so soon. I applied in mid-october and haven't heard back yet 🙁

Congrats by the way!

I just got an acceptance, too! They are my first ones to offer so I was ecstatic when I read the email. Did you ask for the grant? The tuition is terrifying!

Hi,
I am a student at USP or known as USciences now...If you ask my opinion, it is a great school that is if you are interested in studying only. There is a lot of workload, they will almost kill you with it, so you must be ready for it. But one thing for sure, it is a great experience, and the amount of stuff I am learning is amazing. One of their best qualities is fieldwork. The teachers are great who show personal interest in helping you out at anytime.
The only down side is it is a small school and there is not a lot of things to do around the area.

Hope it helps
Good luck

I was accepted a few weeks ago and also received the $12,500 scholarship, which brings it down to an average price... I am concerned about the 50% pass rate on the NBCOT though. Although I heard they have since improved that score and are no where near accreditation probation, so that's good to hear! I am not sure if I will put a deposit down, as it is the first college to hear from. I would like to hear an explanation for the low test score average directly from the university.

USciences is legit. They raised the requirements for applicants last year, I think, at the same time as they started the entry-level doctoral program. My guess is that they used to have a harder time recruiting students, since they were competing with both Temple (a bigger, better-known school) and Thomas Jefferson (which has a great location and is a teaching hospital known for its medical program). It could be that USciences was attracting more 'B' average students than 'A' average students and that a lot of them didn't test so well. I don't know. I'm just speculating. But from what I've heard while living in Philly, it's a good school overall.

Hi, i was just wondering if any of you actually decided to go to USP, I have been accepted there but heard mixed opinion. Can you help me out?

I have heard it is a decent school but more focused on community-based OT rather than clinical. Do you mind sharing your stats? I applied about a month ago and still waiting to hear back.

Hi, I was wondering when you received your acceptance to USP? Thanks.

I applied to USP end of November, but they did not receive everything until December when I called. However, I never got any email confirmation, which was odd. On the phone, Aimee told me I should hear back sometime in January.

I'm wondering about the low NBCOT pass rate too. The website says the scores have significantly improved this year. Can any grads attest to this? I know being an OT means more than just passing a test, but other posts say the school curriculum is no doubt rigorous, so what could be other reasons, any thoughts?

I attended an open house here over the summer and they made sure to point out that their rates have gone up. I forget what the exact number was though. They said they have really started to focus more on test prep.

Bump...any current USciences students on here? How do you like the program? (MOT)

ohtee, did you get accepted into USciences? I am waitlisted, do anyone know what my chances would be? I visted the campus in August but would like to hear more about the program and the campus itself.

@mgOT yes, got accepted as a post-bacc student for their master's program (didn't end up applying to their DrOT program); got a packet in the mail

also interested in how the program is!

I heard they don't differentiate between MOT and DrOT. I think they are shifting to a doctoral program. When I visited the campus, Aimee said post-bacc applicants can pick either MOT or DrOT once they are accepted. High school students who apply to their accelerated pathway program must pick DrOT but post-bacc have a choice.

Congrats, ohtee. Are you planning on going there?

ohh, thanks for the info! I'm a maybe on going...this is the first school I've heard back from :X

Hello, everyone! I was wondering if anyone applied to the DrOT program and if they have heard back yet. I applied in November and still haven't heard anything! :scared:

Hi!

I finished my application in November and heard back from them in early February for the DrOT program! Hopefully you will hear from them soon!

Thanks!! It wasn't marked complete until Jan 22 so I am hoping that I still have a chance. The longer it takes, the more anxious I get! 😕

I was complete around the same time as you. I also called around that same time to make sur ethey had everything and they said I would hear in about three weeks. Still haven't heard so I'm sure we both will very soon. Pretty sure I'm not going there though so it doesn't matter too much for me!

I applied in November, application was complete in December, and got a letter in mail early Feb saying that I am wait-listed.

They actually were the only school to let me know via regular mail (most are email!). They definitely have the nicest packet!

Good luck to you guys! Don't be discouraged if they have you waiting longer - I didn't think I was going to hear from them and then their packet came in the mail!

I heard they were in danger of losing their accreditation. Anybody hear about this?

I heard this as well...I think because of low NBCOT pass rates :/ - avg of last 3yrs is at 63% (2011 was 69%, 2012 was 75%...they didn't list 2010). Next accreditation visit for their masters program is 2014/2015 & DrOT won't receive final accreditation status till summer 2013.

I am a P2 student at the school, and would not recommend it to anyone. In October we were told that one of our level 2 placements had to be 100 miles away from Philadelphia. That isn't much heads up since our first level 2 starts in may/june. It is now March, and we have not been told out level 2 placements for the summer. This is HIGHLY inconvenient since some of us have no idea where we are being placed, and have to find housing. You think it would be nice to get some sort of heads up before we are placed randomly across the country.

The school has no fieldwork connections, and every semester for our level 1's there have been people who were not able to start on time because the school wasn't able to set up the placement.

The school has doubled their class size and does not have enough field work placements, faculty, or classroom space to accommodate for the enlarged class.

If anyone has any specific questions PM me, however I would seriously recommend Jefferson! Wish I went there!

Wow! Great info! I applied there but haven't heard back yet I guess I won't worry about hearing from them...lol thanks!

this is correct! the school is saying that they are "improving" their scores. Really they are just requiring students to pass a practice test, and without that proof they are not allowing the students to sit for the real NBCOT exam. This is not improving the scores, this is just inflating them.

Just found out I am wait listed... I had to call and ask because my app was marked complete in December but I hadn't heard anything...they said they sent me a letter in January (?) but I never got it.

Has anyone decided they will be attending USciences and made the deposit?

I am applying for their MOT program. I received a letter saying: 'at this time our program has reached capacity and we do not foresee space becoming available for the summer 2013 start term' .....does that mean I am on a wait list, or would they have told me?

I was planning on applying this upcoming summer for 2014, but thought since they had a March 1st deadline I'd give it a shot. So probably applying closer to March 1st didn't help. If anyone can help me, please let me know!

Hey all! I got accepted to the DrOT program last year, however I deferred admission and I believe I am starting this summer. I may end up moving to the MOT program because my current job wants to hire me as an OT and wants me to finish earlier than 4 years from now! Is anyone else starting there this month too? Any other info or advice from current USci students?

Hey! Just received an acceptance from USciences for the MOT program! Just wondering if anyone else has received acceptance and is planning on attending?

I was accepted as well! still waiting to hear back on other programs, but as of now that is where I will be attending!

When did you guys apply? I applied in November. Everything was probably received by early December but I still have not heard anything back. When I emailed Aimee last month she said it I would hear back in mid-february but I still have not heard anything. I emailed her again last week, but still no word. I don't really understand why they are taking so long.

I applied and all my materials were received by the end of September. It still took me around 4 months to hear a response. I got a phone call from Aimee at the end of January telling me I was accepted and that an acceptance packet was on its way. The waiting is the worst part!! Stay positive, Im sure a response is coming your way shortly 🙂

It's very frustrating! So are you attending USciences?

As of right now that has been my only acceptance, so most likely yes. I sent in a $500 deposit a few weeks ago. The program starts at the end of May, so time is running out to wait on any other responses.

I have just been accepted as of today. I am very excited but I am only hearing bad things. Can someone tell me something good? Also can you defer your enrollment to the following summer. I live an hour away and I will be commuting. There are no other OT schools by me. I am still unsure of what I should do, and there's not much time to waste.

Has anyone been rejected from USciences? or been wait-listed?

They still haven't told you anything? My wait list letter said I wouldn't find out of there are spaces until after April 1st

No I haven't heard anything!! When did you apply? I had everything in kinda late.... Like second week of December.

If*

I applied at the end of September

Gotchya. yeah they said they are filling up the class and getting close to having only wait-list spots left but that I'll know (hopefully) by next week. So where are you going to school?

I'm going to Mary Baldwin/Murphy Deming

Does anyone have an accurate range for the tuition price for USciences?? Ive heard anywhere from 37k/year to as much as $1447 credit which at 90+ credits for the program is over 140k for the entire program. I called Carmela and she said she does not have that information and to contact financial aid. I received no answer from financial aid when i called. I will try again tomorrow but if anyone has some accurate information please let me know!! Thx

on the USciences website, it says that its $1447 per credit, and at 96 credits its over 140K. I was hoping i was wrong but I got the info directly from the website.

Hi everyone! I got accepted to USciences and I have been looking for a forum that is talking about the school. I have already submitted the 500 dollars and I have received a financial aid package as well. I have to make up 17,ooo a year in grad plus loans. Thats including having already accepted the direct unsubsidized loan of 20,500. Loans, Loans, Loans.
