Hey everyone

I received an invite for University of Toronto for March 29th (and am in a little bit of a panic) and was told to sign on here and look for interesting things like books, courses, CDA style questions. I have searched this site (kinda) and haven't found much yet.
Anyone/anything that can help .... I'll owe you huge. I'll take anything I can get at this point.

Thanks guys/gals

here is a question for you out there....
I found this course on one of the threads offered by some company in Toronto called www.eliteinterview.com does anyone know anything about it?
Im thinking on signing up for it so wanted to see if anyone has taken it in the past or is taking it this session.
Also, are there courses offered directly by universities that may help?

Cheers

Is there a website like this catered to US schools?

The reason why this is here for Canadian Dental schools is because they use a very specific CDA Standardized Interviewing Technique. It is based on best-practices, interviewers are trained, and it is systematic. There are things they look for, and specific ways they mark applicants' responses: thus it is useful to read this book.

The US Schools do the traditional interview (that btw, shows little interrater correlation, and poor prospects of predicting future success) that many job interviews use as well. It is based on "getting to know you" as a person, not situational/behavioural like that of the CDA Interview. Thus, for US Dental schools, you can probably pick up any old book on health professional school interviews. Or even a general job interview book.

For CDA question....u just have to think logically and systematically....tell them both possible side of the story....if you do this...what will happen..if you do that ...what will happen...there are some research paper about CDA style question...and the reason why they use it......there is one or two examples that they give from the research paper....to tell you the truth...even though they ask different question in different interview...the idea is pretty much very similar in term of strategy....also, when they inteview, I think they already have a set of possible answers...you get a certain mark if you give this statment...so, i really believe there is a right or wrong answer...also, they will probe you as you explain the your answer..so that in the end, you may have to make a final decision.

I guess one thing to remember when answering the question is remember that a dentist is not superman. When answering some of the question, remember that you dont want to say something that will risk your life to help someone. You want to help people but you also got to understand your limit. You may need to seek help from professional inorder to solve whatever problem they gave u. By the way, I dont know what I am saying is correct or not. It is just my opinion. I guess an example of the type of question they may ask you is "what will you do if you saw someone cheat on an exam"? I think if you can answer this type of question, then most of them are pretty similar. I cant tell you the exact questions that were asked in the interview because I dont think this will be fair for other applicants.

But honestly, buy the topinterview question....that one really help...

I love the "Canada is the best at everything, we even interview people better than the United States"

Nice work Contach

I dont think he is trying to say that. I think Canadian interview is more fair and it is hard because I believe there is a right or wrong answer. Also, you cant really BS your way through the interview. You really got to give examples and how you will think in certain question. For some of the US interviews...it depend on the interviewer and there is no right or wrong answer for lots of the question. I think for one of my US interview...i basically just talk about research and my love for research.
