Hey,

I had a lab partner last year who said that UT picks their students from the location that you wrote at (Toronto vs. London). Therefore he said if you write in an area with less people, you have a higher chance of being accepted. Does anyone know if this is true?

I'm sure they do have a quota in place for students from different geographical locations within Ontario, but I do not think the location of your test matters in that regard. Your permanent address would be more likely to make an impact (if a geographical quota does exist, that is).

Hello,

Does anyone have any words of advice for me on how to prepare for the UTPAT? I am only in first year of my undergrad and my average should be a little over 80%, so I know I will need a strong test mark to get in. Any advice is appreciated.

As long as your writing skills are in good shape, you will do fine with the essay question (stay organized and follow the standard essay format). For the IQ section, make sure you do as many as you can and not get stuck at a question for too long. Be sure to keep track of time on your own during the IQ section because the invigilators don't give you a two-minute warning for this section (they only announce a warning when ten minutes are left). You will most probably also have a question where you will have to choose 3 out of 5 words and then make a story in which those 3 words will be used (possibly as themes or in some other context), so be prepared to show your creative side. Lastly, the personality test is just a quiz of your personality, but make sure you stay consistent in your answers (because that is essentially what they are looking for). Thanks a lot for that, that was along the lines of the explanation I was looking for. Time to start picking up my fiction novels then!

So far, I understand the UTPAT to have several sections: essay, IQ, personality... On testing day, are these divided into different time slots? What I mean is are they each individaully scored and we need to meet the 'desired range' in each category? Would they give us a short break between each section and give warnings when the time is up for the tests? Also, is there usually only one essay question? About how many other written sections are there (non multiple choice)? For the IQ and personality portions, is it safe to assume that those questions are a bit similiar to those you can find on random tests online?

hehe, I tend to ask a lot of questions but I'm just really nervous about this. Could anybody please give me a little bit more insight on this? Please...?

Hey guyz,

I am applying to the UfT pharmacy school this year. My friends that have received admission have told me to practice IQ questions since IQ scores have been high for those admitted. Can anyone suggest any practice I could do to perform well on this test. UfT pharmacy students...what did you to get in? please let me know....🙂

This is very weird. A pharmacy school giving you an IQ test!!!

I thought UTPAT would be a test over the sciences!!


What is the purpose of this test, and why is it given so much weight?

I, for one, don't agree with the format of the test at all. As a matter of fact, this is the last year in which UTPAT will be utilized, and University of Toronto will be using PCAT results for the next admission cycle onwards (they are also planning to add an interview component to the admissions process, but that's still under review).
