the residents i met on my interview day seemed pretty content with the program. of course, i only met 6 or so out of 60, so i wouldn't say that i necessarily met a representative group. also, half of the residents i met had switched into anesthesia from other specialties (gen surg and ob/gyn that i remember); i believe i heard Bramhall or another attending mention that UW typically fills 5 of their 20 spots outside of the Match.
overall, it seemed like a decent program. the residents seemed to work harder than at VM, but not any worse than the impression i got from the workload at UCSF or stanford. seemed very academically oriented in terms of research, and a little more impersonal due to the sheer size of the program.
