This summer I'm going to start taking my pre-req's either at a community college or at Texas A&M Corpus Christi.

Would the university classes look better to the adcom than CC, or does it matter? I could save a lot of money by going to CC, plus I much prefer the smaller class sizes.

There are extensive discussions on this topic. Do some research, you'll find it. There is one right on this page.
As for your questions, there is mixed opinion on this. Personally. I don't think it matters. I did my pre-req at a CC, and I got in. Many people did as well. I say check with the pharmacy schools you want to apply to and see if there is any "upper division" class they require. If not, then CC would be fine. Do well in those classes and get lots of experience, you'll be fine.

I did a search for it and didn't see anything on the topic, but thanks. I think I'm gonna do university just to be on the safe side.

You really weren't able to find a thread? Here's what I found when I typed in "community college".

If I had to start over again, I'd go to community college. They're cheaper and the level of classes are usually about the same. But basically no, it does not matter where you did your prereqs, just make sure you make good grades. Good luck.

Lol, when I click that it says "Sorry - no matches".

I typed in university or cc and nothing came up, though I do apologize for this.

RIP minute amount of web space 😛

I e-mailed the department head of the school I'm looking at and am awaiting her response. Whatever she says is what I'm going to do. I will post her response here.

Finally got a response and this is what she said:

".Hello…. .We do accept pre recs from Community Colleges and it does not affect a student’s admission status.".

..
So in other words, she is telling me that it does not matter if the classes are taken at a 4-year university or a community college. Even though it's more expensive I'm still going to take my classes at A&M. Only get one chance at this and if I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna do it the best way possible.

This response is from the Interim Director at the University of Louisiana at Monroe, btw.

In addition, just for you to keep in mind... depending on where you plan on applying, they may require to take you a course that is university level. Like biochemistry or something. Not applicable for everyone but just something to make sure so you dont get screwed over in the end.

my friend got in with 4 years cc and no degree but his gpa and pcat were great. I did all my pre reqs at a cc as well and am glad I did because a brand name education to me just isn't worth paying for. I would say though if you do go to a community college its a little more crucial to maintain a higher gpa than if you went to a university. Its also important to do at least average on the pcat to show them that your cc education was just as good as an education at a university. Just my opinion
