Greetings,

I understand that this year is by no means over, nor I am giving up hope. I am though, a realist that has learned from past mistakes. If in fact I need to reapply I want to get started with the process now so I definitely come with my "A" game this time around. Do I need to request official transcripts from all course work all over again or just my current grades? New improved LORs? Can I use last year's app and update, redo my PS? I surely pray that none of us have to but the truth of the matter is some of us will. I just want to come correct and be a more competitive applicant with a better, stellar, and early application. GOOD BLESSINGS and GODSPEED !!!!!!!!!!😍

If you are reapplying, you need to change everything about your previous application (and upgrade everything) that is possible. If the worst happens, and you are not accepted, the general consensus is that you application was not competitive enough. If this becomes the case, change what does not work.

The other thing to do is request and submit your official transcripts as soon as you can so that when you send in your AMCAS (you are going to do this at the earliest possible date), your transcripts are on their way. Resend everything so that there won't be any delay.

Redo the PS and include your experience of not getting in this year as a learning experience. After all, you learn as much from your failures as from your successes so utilize this experience to showcase your growth and maturity. Get new letters and request the now. You can't be too early with these. Again, if you use the same letter writers, be sure to let them know that you didn't get in this year and what you have done to upgrade your application for next year so that they can include this information in your new letter.

It's early for the 2009 cycle so get busy. It is especially important for you to change everything that you can if you find that you will be applying to some of the same schools that you applied to this year.

Also, remember than none of your future patients will ever ask or care that you were a re applicant to medical school. Go for it with renewed vigor. Good luck!
