Hello all! I am just seeking an answer on if I count as a nontraditional applicant. I graduated from university 2 years ago and then had to take a little over a year for health problems and then after that time I entered into an AmeriCorps program that I am currently serving with until August. I'm 25 and am hoping to start applying this upcoming cycle for both MD and DO, but would just like some clarification on the nontraditional definition as it would be a challenge to reach out to professors from multiple years ago to ask for letters of rec when it's been so much time...

Any information is appreciated! Just trying to figure this all out and get back on the path for my dream!

I'm just curious how does knowing what a nontraditional student is help you with 1) getting into medical school and 2) getting letters of recommendation from faculty members? Unless you have recently taken science courses at the undergraduate/graduate level, you will definitely need to reach out to faculty members from two years ago for recommendations.
