Congratulations boardsuccess, I can't wait to meet everybody again back in UOP.

I have to move from Virginia Beach all the way across the country to San Francisco, it's not going to be easy to move everything; family, pets, and furniture, it's very complicated and costly. I'm even thinking of selling everything (well except family and pets 😀 ) and just renting a furnitured apartment there...

....any ideas are welcome, if you have gone through this before what did you do ?

If any of the future or current UOP students is reading this can you please share what you know about cost of living in San Francisco in details, I know it's very expensive 😱 , but I'll be glad if you can share what you know about the cost of renting, in-campus and off-campus, single or married with a family or without, what areas in and around San Francisco are good and which ones are bad, ..etc. Please share your experiences or whatever information you know about this.

It's indeed so expensive to live in San Francisco that I'm actually thinking of renting outside San Francisco, I dunno how that will work out.

We haven't known the exact amount of tuition yet, so should I go ahead and apply for private loan or just wait? Anyone in the same financial situation please advise!

If you are eligible for federal financial aid you should wait until you get the award package or letter from the UOP FA office, it will exactly tell you how much you can get as far as federal loan is concerned.

I think students have to do that on their own, the school will certify the paper work needed to establish the cost of attending the school which is going to determine how much we'll get in loans from banks.

Same here. I'm looking at late may/early June.
I hear that real estate in San Fran is at prime (what's new), so anyways try to get a head start on your apartment hunt early, by doing some of it online. That should make things a bit clearer.
I would recommend this website as a start;

You can also find almost anything on there ... furniture, computers, cars ... you name it !
If you even need to sell anything (before you move from wherever you are now), just select your city from the city menu in the right side of the homepage, and post your ad for free !
Anyways, great deals on there ... hope it helps ...

If you are interested in knowing - go to the school website , click on the current students link on the left, click on calender and schedules and click on IDS first year.
that will show your class schedules for the next quarter.
Also if you click on 2006-07 it will show the next year school calender.
