I was contacted by UOP inviting me to interview to the wait list. They said that after Jan 15 they can start going off the waitlist for any openings. I was wondering if anyone knew (or has an educated guess) the matriculation rate for the first batch of accepted students? Thanks guys

congrats! when is your interview?

Thanks!

Take the interview with no hesitation and imagine that you are already accepted in the program. There is no formula, but you have a much better chance that all of us that did not get interview from UOP yet. Usually, people who get accepted to UOP will get other accpetance form other schools as well, so you have a very good chance.

when did you apply? I have not heard from UOP yet... 🙁

Congrats on the interview. I would guess that around 60 percent matriculate since the tuition is so high. I am off to my interview at UOP for tomorow. I will let you know how it goes and what info they give. Definitely take the interview. I am sure you will be offered a spot if they granted you a wait list interview this early. Good luck. 🙂

WOAH that is pretty crazy. is that normal? i haven't heard of that being done at other schools. anyway, congrats!!

so do you all think that most schools will send enough acceptances to POTENTIALLY fill their entire class be december 1? my dentist told me they only accept the strongest and most superior candidates in december, and if you are average/above average, even if they think they want you prior to dec 1 they might wait until jan/feb to see who else applies that might be "better" than you. anyone have any thoughts about this?

I'm dying to hear something from UOP. They've had my application for 2 months now and webtools still says my file is in review. My DAT scores are 21/18. Is it because of my PAT?

My stats are
Overall GPA: 3.41
Science: 3.33 (I'm an econ major though)
19AA/17PA

I really like the program at uop and at least am glad to hear from them. I applied early July.

When did you submt your application if I may ask?

Wow! That's awesome that you even got an opportunity to be on the wait list. I haven't heard back from UoP yet, but I heard from their staff (not these exact words...but indirectly) that unless you have 20s all across...don't get your hopes up. So, its good to hear your situation.

Good luck! 👍

Not necessarily - I've got a high PAT, and my file was put in the "No decision" category. I applied very early, too.

I used to have the misperception that UOP cares about DAT scores much more than anything else. Now from what I understand, UOP bases their decision for interviews on much more than DAT scores. The whole person, so to speak. Based on what Kathy Candito told me, to them DAT scores mean that you'll succeed in dental school, but more importantly they look at personal comments, letters of recommendation, et cetera, to get an idea of what kind of a person you are.

Kind of tough since many people come across differently on paper than in person, but that's the breaks.

Man, the one I talked to is completely diff. DAT, DAT, GPA, GPA, you are not competitive. You are not good enough for UOP. Consider other schools. I still don't believe her though. I think what you said sounds right.

UUuuuummmmm.... Saman1, did you not see that when you replied to his post, the answer you were looking for was in your reply? He said he applied in early July.

Don't Open the Link from Saman1 below; it will flood your PC with unwanted popups and cause your IE to crash!

Come on idiot saman1, we don't need this type of popup spammer link in this post. If you are going to post invasive links like that, please go elsewhere. To ALL: Don't open his link, it will popup a moving window that plays "you are an idiot" and when you try to close it it will open window upon window upon window of the same annoying thing. Spammers burn in HELL!

That sounds pretty harsh what they told you. Do you remember who you spoke to? Laura Buell and Kathy Candito are the two main people that do initial reviews of apps. They've both been very helpful when I spoke to them.

Warren was mean to me 🙁 I like Laura, she is really nice and I even spoke to her in person.

Did you talk to Cathy recently?
Nope . . . that was when they came up here. She never did call me back, but then I didn't request that she call me back. I just said that if she had any questions or anything she wanted to discuss on my application, she could call me.

I really don't want to give out the name. I think I'm in bad luck or something, I called the place twice and talked to the same person. The second time I talked to, the person didn't know that I had called in earlier. The person even sounded very proud when telling me those words. The person didn't know how much effort the person on the other end of the phone line has put in. On top of that, my stats are not crappy at all. The person attacked the 16 I have on my Bio. The advisor that I met on the visit day also said similar things to me. I think UOP needs some serious staff meeting.

That's too bad you didn't have a good experience with them. With your stats, I'm sure you'll get in somewhere. Good luck to you, UOP's loss. 👍

I think only a fellow applicant understands how personal a DAT score is... there's just so much time, effort, and hope tied into it. As crazy sherm said, it's UOP's loss.

A similar thing happened to me. The first time I took the DAT I felt I had done well. Got Bio 21 Chem 20 Ochem 20... I was genuinely happy. Then I called UOP to see if my scores were okay and they told me I needed to retake it b/c my RC was a 16 (although whoever I talked to was really nice about it, it hurt nonetheless).

Hello everyone......

I just had a question/concern about my status at UOP. I looked up my status on the UOP website and Infosource site and they both say that I have been invited for an interview, but I have not received an email, written notice, or phone call letting me know about this interview.

I just want to know if there is anybody out there who found out about their interview status on the web first, then received more of a formal notification afterwards. Please let me know. Thanks.

Huh, that sounds pretty strange. Actually, they had my status as incomplete for a long time, even after they called me up for the interview. They didn't change it until after my interview date. Make sure your contact info is up to date and if they don't contact you in a the next week or so, give them a call.

I applied early September, they received my app mid October and I was called for an interview as an alternate on Tuesday, but my online status still says file in review.

My stats:
AA: 26
PAT: 20
QR: 25
RC: 24
BIO: 21
GC: 29
OC: 29
TS: 25

Cum GPA: 3.93
Science GPA: 3.92

Will graduate with BS in Biochem in June from the U. of Washington, but this is only my third year out of high school.

Seems like they are very competitive this year or they just don't like how I applied so late (probably the second reason) as an explanation to getting an interview for alternate status...oh well I'm still really excited about it!! Good luck to everyone!

Every time I see your stats, I about choke on my own spit! 😀 They are really spectacular. So I'd have to agree with you. Your late application is probably the main reason you haven't heard from them. And technically your app. isn't that late, but I applied to the AADSAS in May and had my secondary from them in June. So there are (were) bunches of people that applied before September that got first crack I bet. I still think you are going to be fine.

Good Luck!

This did happen to me, I found out by the website one night that my status had changed and I got a call from Warren about two days later calling to confirm that I had an interview and what day I would like to schedule it for. How long ago did you see that your status had changed to "invited for interview" on the website? If it has been a long time, better call Warren or Kathy to confirm.

ps: the interview day is incredible, they treat your professionally but still pamper the heck out of you, hellofa day.

all of this doesn't make sense to me. How can there be people on an alternate list already? I thought they don't give out acceptances until December 1st? how can the class be full? Are alternates including the 300 people they interview or what? 😕

UOP interviews 20 applicants per week starting in October. So going into Dec 1, minus 1 day for turkey, they have interviewed about 150 students. Assuming they let all those people in that got interviews before Dec 1, and the class size being only 138, then anyone else they give out interviews for after Dec 1 are placed on the waiting list.

When I was there, they told us we were group #7 out of 30, so I think the 300 includes the alternates.

oh ! I see how it goes now... so being on the alternate list isn't bad at all... assuming that all the initial 150 students don't plan on going to UOP. 😀 I wonder when the first group of alternates are being interviewed... any one know?

hey, did you do Running Start too? I'm also at UW, graduating this year.

hey i checked my infosource for UOP and it says that the status of my file is "reviewed, no decision." and under comment, it says "re-review in december." what does that mean? is that same thing as getting waitlisted?

mikhiel said:

Hey fellow husky! I did not do running start, I had 30 AP credits coming in and have gone both summers. What classes are you taking right now and what's your major?

Just got back from UOP. It is a very nice campus and the people are very friendly. I would definitely go to the alternate interview if I were you. I think many people choose to go to other schools because the tuition is too high. Good luck.

Did they mention anything about their application process or its timeline? Or odds of getting in after alternate interviews?

I came in with 90 Running Start credits, but I took my time, because I could. I'm a Bio-Physiology major, finishing up this winter and hopefully heading abroad in the spring. I'm in all bio classes right now... advanced Physio and lab, Endocrinology, Microbio 301, Foundations in Ecology, and a physiology seminar on pheromones. What about you?

They didn't specifically say anything, but friends have told me many of the people who get accepted do not attend. If you are early on the alternate list, I think you will be accepted. I know people who got on the list in feb. and still got in.

mikhiel,

I am biochem major so I am in Bioc 440, and the lab 426, and microm 410 and the lab 402, and a classics course.

This may be a dumb question, but how did your guys check your status at the uop's website?? I also check my profile using info source, but it always say N/A 😕 😕

does anyone know what the chances are of getting into UOP from the alternate list. I have heard both answers, excellent and terrrible. some say b/c of the cost that it is likely there will be more spots left to be filled, others say b/c it is such a good school, the waiting list does not really move??? can anyone shed light on this?

Take this for what its worth. I've been told a couple of times that they interview about 300 people and accept nearly all 300 to fill the 140 spots. When I interviewed on Nov. 8, I asked Warren how many interviews they do before Dec. 1, and he said 120. If this is the case, that means they still need to do another 180 interviews. So, being on the alternate list isn't such a bad deal.
