Hey if anyone can give me some input, it would quiet some of my worries!

I am new to this site and have been reading some of the past posts. Specifically, I am reading that UOP looks for 20's across the board on the DAT. Do they take one score that is below 20 if the others are exceptional? For example here are my scores on all sections:

Bio: 22
GChem: 23
OChem: 25
Science: 23
Reading: 27
Quantitative: 26
PAT: 18 🙁
Academic: 25 🙂

Please help, I know I sent in my app kinda late (September 13), but I still haven't heard from them! Thanks

Also, what do you think of my chances at UCLA and UCSF? My gpas are 3.62 science and 3.53 overall. I also have research, work experience, and 75 hours dental experience.

dentisttobe,

You have nothing to worry about. Your stats are superb!!! UOP is known to look at Reading Comprehension and PAT. Your reading is amazing. However, everyone has an "achilles heel" but I don't think your PAT is gonna hurt you, just contact the admissions director and show your enthusiam...I'm positive they will love you back.

PS: By the way, welcome to SDN, Pre-Dental!!!

Hi dentistobe,

I'm sure you'll have a good chance at any school you aim for. UOP wants DAT scores about 20 across the board. My scores is about the same as yours. And they told me that they are very pleased with it. They just put my file on hold bc they want to wait for my fall grades. So, just call them and ask Ms Kathy Candito for your status. I sent in my application in sep 23. So, don't worry. you'll hear from ucsf soon
Good luck to you and welcome to SDN.

Dentisttobe-

Are you kidding? Those stats are awesome! In my opinion, you have a better than excellent chance of getting in to any school that you apply to (including UCLA, UCSF, etc), moreso UOP. While UOP does want to see 20's across the board on the DAT (especially the reading section), I would say that even more important is the way you present yourself. At my interview, they really emphasized the "humanistic" philosophy of the school. I think that if you show your understanding of the profession and that you genuinely care about helping people, you will definately hear from them. They were one of the fastest schools to get back to me. Good luck and welcome to SDN!
