uop payback?

Unless things have changed, still should be 3 years payback.
Pretty sure it's 4 years, as I believe UOP has 4 billing cylces(or 4 academic years of 9 months each). So I don't think UOP is any different that other schools, other than the Dental education is only 3 years instead of 4.

Pacific has been 3 year payback for a long time. It was for me. Some of my buddies in other branches say they owe 4 though, and I had heard the Army was going to that as well (it is in their interests after all). You are just going to have to clear this up with a recruiter.

USArmyHPSP works in the office where this is handled. If he tells you 3 yrs - you can not get anymore of a clear, direct, authoritative, and definite answer than that.

Please allow me to point out that this is not a matter of Army HPSP policy, but it comes from the Department of Defense Instruction 6000.13, paragraph 6.4.9, which reads in part:
Each Program member shall incur an eight year service obligation, a portion of which shall be an active duty obligation. Time spent in military internship or residency shall not be creditable in satisfying the active duty obligation. The active duty obligation for an Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program participant shall consist of at least two years, or one-half year for each half year of scholarship sponsorship, whichever is greater.
So, at UoP, for the first day of scholarship benefits you owe two years (note 6000.13 says SHALL consist of at least two years - there is no wiggle room). At two years and one day of scholarship benefits paid to you or on your behalf, you now owe two and one half years of obligation. Once you received two years, six months and one day of scholarship benefits, you owe for three years of obligation.
Confirmed today that the payback for the AF should be 3 years

I am current 2nd year at UoP. I only owe three years. I know 2 people in the class above me who also only owe three years too. If you take the 20K bonus you will automatically incur 4 years active duty payback.
I wish it were simply that easy, however the problem lies in the fact that 3 year scholarships are typically given out really early to D1 students only which screws most people who get accepted to UoP. Thus I had to spend months of phone tag with the recruiter and other people up the chain of command in order to get a 4 year scholarship converted to a 3 year. Lucky for me I believe a current HPSP D1 student flunked out of USC, so I think I basically took his place.
It's all about numbers. If the army predicts that they need 500 dentist in 20XX year (and they secure that appropriate estimated amount of dentists via scholarships and current estimated retention figures, outsourcing to private ex-military dentists, ect) suddenly you throw a monkey wrench into everything by being an "extra" dentist they did not account for. Too many people around screws up promotions and there are rules about people getting dismissed if they are not promoted within a certain time. And obviously there can only be so many majors, colonels, ect...

I think it is an awesome deal here and I am thankful for the scholarship and opportunities and experiences I will get, as well as great OS specialization opportunities. I am not sure if things have changed since. They probably have...

Two people here at UoP received a 2 year air force scholarship last year that kicked in this year. It incurred 3 years of payback. I got all three years paid for in the army and owe only three years....
Oh well maybe the air force isn't as great as everyone thinks. I am pretty happy with the army HSPS and they are bigger than the other two branches and thus have more chances/ needs for specialization opportunities, as well as more options for where you can go.

Minimum term of service for any branch of the military is 3 years. So anyone receiving a 2 or 1 year scholarship will serve a minimum of 3 years per Congress.
