contrary to popular belief, not everyone at UOP wants to go directly into private practice after they graduate. About the same percentage of students go into specialty school as do students in the other dental schools across the country. I know it because it almost feels like the majority of our class is working damn hard right now (1st year at UOP) so that they can open up doors for specialty. But many of us are planning on either associating/buying into a private practice or starting up our own practice after we graduate. We take boards part 1 about halfway through our second year, and part two later right after our third year. Generally people have passed both and are ready to practice soon after we graduate in three years. hope that helps you, lemme know if anyone else has UOP questions and ill do what i can to answer them. -Mike
o, and it seems to me that the job market for associating dentists is very strong right now, depending a bit on where in cali you want to practice. But a degree from UOP shows that you are very clinically strong and established dentists like to know that when taking on an associate. Id say you wouldn't have to worry too much about finding a job in california after you graduate.
