I'm not a high school student, but have actually started my junior year as a biology major in college. After such a rough year last year, I decided to take more simpler classes this semester, and actually moved and transferred to a new college. I was pre-dental but now am unsure of everything and do feel like I could go into any of the medical fields and not just the dental field.

I know there may be a lot of posts like this, but I don't think dental school is the right path for me anymore, and don't feel like doing something easier like nursing is for me. I am looking for any advice, pros and/or cons on why one field is particularly better than others.

Any help is appreciated as I am in a slump now on which direction to go, and have done my research but cannot decide on one specific career path,

thanks.

There are a lot of pros and cons in every field. You talk about having a "rough year" and having to take simpler classes. What are your stats like? Is MD/DO/or dental even an option now? If not then that simplifies your choice substantially.

Since you have "done your research", my suggestion is to make a personal inventory. List the attributes that you want in your career. Don't exclude financial and lifestyle goals. Consider the amount of risk you want to take. Medicine, compared to business is much less risky, though a harder road. Finally, ask your self why you are interested in these fields. Write it down on a piece of paper. Are you interested in the health professions because you feel it is the "most noble" thing to do, or because you would enjoy the type of work it calls for.

Good luck.

have you tried shadowing different health professions? do that and see which one appeals to you the most. then do some research on it.
