Found out recently that my lab had 2 posters accepted for the Society for Research in Child Development. Woo-hoo! Denver here I come (well, in April anyway 😀)!

I went to AGPA for the 1st time last year -- and I'm hooked! They have great scholarship opportunities, and I found the group training experiences to be invaluable. Also, it was the most warm & friendly conference I've ever been to.

Having that said, I run groups and plan to continue training in group psychotherapy.

psychmama, are you a regular?

I'm a fellow "groupie", but this will be my first AGPA conference (assuming I get the scholarship I applied for). A number of my classmates have been before and have raved about it!

I run a few groups, including an interpersonal group for adult outpatients, and a DBT group for college students. I've really enjoyed my group work and training, and plan to continue with it as well. I was actually skeptical about group therapy until I go involved in a process group as part of my training -- now I'm a believer. (I even wrote one of my internship essays about my experience with groups.)

I'm waiting on the scholarship as well. I got it last year (no travel, just tuition scholarship which is worth like $1000). If you end up going, definitely try to do the 2-day Institute in one of the process groups. That was the coolest thing ever!

Our local group society president is very involved with AGPA and she told me that she's never heard of anyone getting turned down for the scholarship - so you can almost count on it. What is hard to guess is getting any additional money for travel, etc.

It will be quite a trip, as Friday match day takes place during AGPA. (!)

To try and stay on board task, there's also:

RSA (Research Society on Alcoholism): June 20-24, San Diego
and various ACT workshops listed on ACBS (Association for Contextual Behavioral Science) website.

Thanks Eruca! Here's hoping the scholarships come through, and that the match day looming large does not distract too much. I definitely want to do the 2 day institute -- I've heard it's excellent. 😉

Hey Eruca, I was just wondering if you ended up going to AGPA this year? I was there and it was a great experience, especially the Institute.😀
