Hey all,

I'm thinking about sending an update letter to schools I haven't heard back from yet. I recently moved to a new city where I have recently started doing research with a decently well-known doctor and have started at two ECs that would count as clinical experiences.

However, I have only had about a month at each position - is it worth updating these schools on? Should I combine this with a letter of interest? I would appreciate any help. Thanks!!

I would say it depends on when you were complete. If you were complete at these places in July, yes, I would definitely update them. If it's only been a few weeks, then I would say to wait a bit.

I think it's fine to update early on in the process. It's still a significant change to what was on your primary. My advice would be to keep it to a couple of paragraphs -- one about your new ventures and one that is letter-of-interesty. Perhaps how your new activities make you an better candidate for admission to X.

Just make sure the schools accept updates before you write them. 😉

It's still too early in the game to tell, especially if you don't have an interview at that school yet. Wait until your EC's mature a bit and when you have something more substantial to update on. Good luck!
