I found a few posts on this topic in the past, but nothing with clear answers, so I'd love to hear from @Goro @Catalystik @gonnif @LizzyM or anyone else. Would an applicant be helping or hurting his/herself by updating schools post-interview with a Fulbright or similar award? On the one hand the award is very prestigious, but on the other hand that would mean you're essentially asking for admission to a future class, which would make me think it's better to wait it out, hope for an acceptance, then request a deferral.
For me specifically, my award is a 2 year program which involves both masters level study in the sciences with heavy research, which is a big weakness of my app (already have a few A's, but still waiting to hear back from 5+ T20 schools and no research experience under my belt). So it would be a big boost to my app, but also a 2 year deferral. Would love to hear some opinions.
