As the title states, I am beginning to explore the possibility of an update letter. The letter would contain a high authorship on a poster presented (by the first author) at an international conference and a large grant won by my charity. I worry that, since I was an early submitter, I don’t have that much time to add updates before the Rs start really rolling in - but I also have a low authorship paper being submitted (post revision) in the next week or two. Should I wait?

I would not update for authorship on a poster you did not present.
For the grant won by your charity- can you give some more context about this? Is "your charity" one you run by yourself, and this grant was written by you and from a known organization? When you say "large", are you talking millions of dollars or thousands of dollars?

ty for answering! Sorry, I had seen many other people add that so I thought it made sense. If it won't help, no point in adding it I suppose. yes, it is my charity, I helped write the grant (with my co-director), I run it with a team (but I am one of 2 Directors). I should have clarified, sorry, relatively large. Several thousands of dollars, nowhere near millions or even hundreds of thousands. Is this worth updating?

I think all together this might be worth something (and you should include the poster if you're already submitting an update letter). The grant depends somewhat on the purpose / granting agency: some are more prestigious than others.
You might consider waiting for the paper so you can include all three items together, depending on how long that will be.

There are actually 3 grants (one more prestigious one and 2 smaller ones) I was going to update on. Figures - I will just add in in there then. As for the paper, I am expecting it to get accepted somewhere around end of November/early December, so I am thinking of sending another letter around that time with the publication update - not sure I want to wait that long to send one. Let me know what you think though!
