I'm feeling conflicted over whether to send an update letter to a school I interviewed for back in September. They don't release decisions until next month and I was wondering whether some schools like updates to demonstrated continued interest.

Also, what type of changes/achievements would warrant an update in this situation?

I would wait until after a decision has been released unless you have something meaningful to report such as a new publication, national or international scholarship, etc. Updates showing continued interest are most helpful once waitlist movement has begun, though the effectiveness (or lack thereof) of these letters will depend on each institution (some are more receptive to these letters).
