I want to send an update letter to some of the medical schools I have interviewed at, and I am 1st author on a paper that was just submitted for publication...can I include this? Or does it have little merit since it has not been accepted yet? Thanks and good luck to everyone!! =)

Definitely include it. But mention it was submitted for publication.
