I was just about to submit my AMCAS yesterday when I got news that I got awarded admission into a really tough internship. I wont be starting the internship till january but I was wondering if I should still put it on my AMCAS application for one of the things I will be doing in my year off. I already have hit the max limit on the activities section so I'd have to delete my least compelling activity to make room for it. Is there any other option in trying to let schools know that I will be starting this internship, explaining what Ill be doing there, and what my position will be?

I have a description of the internship and its a really good, unique activity to be participating in but since it hasnt started I cant say it has had an impact on me or that I have really accomplished anything. If someone could help me out Id really appreciate it!!

if you haven't submitted, then sure, as long as it's a definite thing. you don't want to show up for interviews and be like "oh yeah.... about that.... i forgot to go"

you shouldn't list future activities. like a poster above said, save it for update letters, secondary questions, and interviews

Congrats! This sounds like the type of thing you definitely want schools to hear about, but now is too soon. Future activities should rarely, if ever, be included in applications because you will look like a quitter if they fall through, even when it's not your fault.

If you will have had some experience with this internship by the time you submit Secondaries, I would recommend including it in the "anything else the Admissions Committee should know about you" question. You might also be able to use it as a reason you're a good fit for the school. Alternately, wait and include it in your update letters. For more information, you can read about application updates on my blog: http://appmd.blogspot.com/2011/08/extra-extra-read-all-about-me.html.

Sounds good! Ill wait for the update letters and interviews to talk about the activity. Thanks for all the help!
