Sorry in advance since I know similar questions have been asked before, but I’m having trouble finding a definitive answer. I have some presentations, etc. that I want to update schools on soon. Is it ok to just send the same letter to all my schools and include only the update info, or would it behoove me to tailor the letters to individual schools and include reasons why I’m interested in each particular school?

Some schools don't care about updates, some are middle of the road and some love the effusive praise given. You should always tailor your letters to the program.

I think you already know the answer to this question. In an update letter, give some substance as to any important things that have been going on (only include positive things like a promotion, publication or a new grade--- A- or higher). Your presentation could fall under this category especially if something like a department presentation or at a conference. In the same letter, incorporate/remind them what about their school interests you and how you will contribute to their incoming class. Thank them for being considered for an interview/"seat in the class" (if post interview)

note: be careful: some schools specifically do NOT want any contact (e.g. Rosalind Franklin).

Thank you all so much for the feedback!! I will definitely tailor my letters to the specific schools and will make sure not to send updates to schools that say not to send them. Really appreciate the advice!
