Hi everyone!

I figured I would update you all on my progress. Here's my original thread from some years ago, if you're interested in reading: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/threads/active-military-wanting-to-go-to-med-school.703985/

I am almost done with undergrad. I just have this semester, plus a few classes in the summer, and then I am done. I just wrote the MCAT on 15JAN2015, and... well - VR and BS didn't feel good, while, strangely, PS did. My AAMC practice average is a flat 10/10/10, and I had managed a 32 and a 31 on two separate occasions. I hope I can pull my average, but the exam just didn't feel that good. One month of hell, yay!

At this point, I'm working on getting my application ready for AMCAS (and possibly TMDSAS?). In regard to TMDSAS - would anyone suggest I bother applying in Texas? I'll be a below average applicant, with a 3.53 GPA/3.88 sGPA and a MCAT score that likely won't make me competitive. I don't have any real ties to the state, except for some distant relatives. I was stationed there for a short period of time for military training, and I have visited a couple times and loved it. (edit; I'm not a Texas resident).

Also, if anyone is able to answer some questions about AMCAS particulars, I'd be truly thankful if you sent me a PM.

Thanks for everything, guys!

Then it doesn't make much sense to apply in texas.

The uniformed service school might be a good idea if you're interested in more service to the military.

Your average MCAT might be on the low end for MD school but not instareject territory for most schools. Your stats are fantastic for DO schools though.
