I recently come across the fact that Gram(+) bacteria are the the most common causes of septic shock in the US rather than Gram (-) ( I was kinda shocked at this) http://content.nejm.org/cgi/content/abstract/348/16/1546
(This was noted in Robbins as well).

Do the boards account for updates like this?

I've wondered the same thing, especially regarding Immunology. Each textbook seems to have little differences (regarding complement, cytokines, etc).

Well, Robbins says its for sure. So I don't think this is an argued concept--just more recent.
