Updating schools on new academic information

I have yet to hear from many of the schools I've applied to, and have been taking some of my prerequisite courses this year. I recently got back my grades for the prereq courses I was taking in my first semester, and they were all good (A/A+). I feel like this is worth updating programs about (especially ones that might be wary that I was missing a couple of prereqs). 1. Is this a good reason to send an update?, and 2. Do I literally just send an email to the admissions office of the relevant schools with my name/AMCAS ID explaining the situation? Thanks!
