Just wondering if there is a "right" way to do this:

The research team I work with had a couple papers accepted for publication since I've submitted my primary. I'm not first or second author on either. Is it worth updating schools with this information (given that I already have several other publications at the same or higher positions in the author list) and if so, is it OK just to send the citation as "in press" without a specific publication date or should I wait until after it has actually been published to report? I'm only applying to regular MD programs, not MD/PhD or MD/grad programs.

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You could, but there's no rush.

As someone with [already] multiple pubs, the utility of these new ones will be diminished -- compared to if you had none listed on AMCAS.

If it's been accepted already and definitely going to be published, why not? It could also be a nice excuse to reiterate your interest in a school as opposed to merely updating them.
