Updating the date on old letters of rec?

Have any of you asked old letter writers to update the date on their LOR's? My LOR's are dated summer 2006. Should I ask my letter writers to update the date to summer 2007? I've already sent out LOR's to a bunch of schools. What do you guys think?

If you have the means, its always better to get updated letters. A lot can happen in a year, and many adcoms prefer not to see anything older than a year.

If I try to get my letter-writers to fix the date, it might take 3-4 weeks to have my LOR's ready for submission this cycle. Is the added benefit of having a 2007 date instead of 2006 worth sending my secondaries in august instead of July?

if this is your first year applying, it doesn't matter. if you're a reapplicant, you should have had those letters updated. med schools don't like recycled LORs.
