👎 Boo! But hey, look at it this way: you're currently better off than if you were waitlisted or rejected. Not only were you worth their time for an interview but they also think that you're enough that you need to be looked at again. I'm sure it will turn out well. Good luck :xf:

I haven't heard anything yet and my skin is starting to crawl. I've got a physics exam tomorrow and I can hardly concentrate. Time to take a break.

I haven't heard anything yet either. I'm also out of cell range for half of my day. It's killing me. :/

Nice job Bantams and Dachsundvet!

Welcome to the hold club, AspiringDVM. 😳

Congratulations Bantams17 and Dachsundvet! And good luck to everyone on hold!

To people who interviewed on Friday, how was NBC? Did I someone ask this already and I missed it?

Guys, I know that March seems like forever away, but that is when many of the state schools give their notice as well, so it's really not that much worse than anywhere else. I heard from NCSU in mid-March last year. It'll all be okay. Just take a deep breath. 😉

Hold club is where it at! Even if I get it, I will be rejecting, since the school wasn't for me, so thats one more person (if they accept me) that will open up a spot.😀

Being on hold is the BEST!!!

I'm just curious, did you get asked which school was your top choice and give them an answer that wasn't Penn? I did that (because I don't think I'm a good liar) and I feel like it may have contributed to my hold status. Oops 🙄

I was asked and I told them that while Penn was expensive, it was one of my top choices. Then again, I AM a big fat liar, haha, so maybe they could tell I was a liar and thats why Im on hold

Haha, I swear that EVERYONE that knows I told Penn they weren't my #1 yelled at me for not lying and told me about cases where they lied in their interviews and got away with it. But BEFORE I went in for an interview, all of the people who I talked to told me that you should never lie to admissions committees because they can "always" tell. Oh well!

Haha, I was asked that question too! I decided to be honest and say that if I was looking at it purely from a financial perspective, Penn wouldn't be my first choice. I said it'd be a hard offer to turn down, but a huge savings and reduction of debt would make my decision for me. And agreed - those interviewers just KNOW when something is fishy! 🙄

congrats to everyone who just heard!! if/once you make your decision and it happens to be penn, dont forget to join our facebook group!

So I followed up with Mr. Keiter via email today and he responded with the following

"We will be finishing up invitations probably by the end of the week. After March 1, denial letters will start to go out which will take a few weeks."

Boo🙁

Yikes :scared:

I'm sorry to hear that guys. 🙁

Though, I have to say that I'd rather have a decision sooner than later so I can plan my life accordingly...

For those on hold, I was wondering if you guys stuck around and chatted after the interview/tour? I had to leave immediately after the tour (I had my interview first), so I was wondering if that might have affected the decision since interacting with the current students was part of the process?

I'm IN! Got my call this morning. Still kind of shaky. 😀 😀

Whew. Thanks for the update. Hey, at least we know if we don't get an invite by the end of the month that it's time to give up hope. 🙄

So is this invitations for an interview or for getting accepted?

I don't understand why it will take a few weeks for denial letters to go out once they have already been finished with interview invites for a week and a half. That's kind of dumb IMO.

I did stick around till the day was completely over.
I'm not sure how much impact that would have had since you did get to interact with students during the tour and when you weren't interviewing or touring. Although, now that you mention that, I didn't interact much with a lot of the students. I feel like the way things worked out I spent A LOT of time with the two students who did my tour and little to none with everyone else.

No this wouldnt effect you. From what i understand (and im 90% this is accurate) the students on the admissions committee+faculty get together RIGHT after the interview day to discuss the applicants and who they want to accept. Therefore, the only interaction that could affect you is w/e you did during the tour and while you waited for your interview. I went to happy hour after the interview but none of the grad students on the committee even showed up until a couple hours later. So anyone who went to the happy hour had no advantage in the decision process, just the advantage of hearing advice from more students 🙂

I guess it was just me then. 🙁 Oh well.

Congrats to those who heard today!!

sry i thought u were still waiting? i didnt meant to be too blunt, i thought you were undecided. if you are on hold, that just means they are unsure. they def still like you or they would have rejected you. it was probably one thing in your application that they are juggling whether or not you'd be a good fit. i'm sorry if my post was a big bummer, i didnt mean to be rude! i posted to make you feel better since you didnt miss out on anything afterwards.

No, no it was definitely not rude or offensive! Don't worry. LOL. I'm just being a Negative Nancy! I am still on hold. Thanks for the info! 🙂

When asked the question I replied honestly that it was one of my top two choices but ultimately a lot of the decision was going to be made by where it would be most convenient for my wife to go to school as well! This way they could blame her if I said no. Didn't seem to hurt as I was accepted.

Thanks for the update! I was assuming a rejection is on its way since I haven't heard from them at all yet. Now I guess it's basically confirmed. :lame:

Gah!!! Really...LAME....

i'm in the same boat as you. I still havent heard from pen (my in state) or michigan. I'm waitlisted at iowa and kansas but it would be nice to hear from penn, tryin to be patient

Nothing of substance to add, but Eosinophilipino, your name cracks me up! 🙂

I called the other day and was told the same thing. If you don't get an invite to interview by the end of this week, you're rejected. However there might be a small crack in the heavens that someone declines his or her invite and you get one next week.

So I take it that I'm rejected. :lame: But lucky because I have some other schools, but I really wanted to go to Penn because my grandmom lives in Philly and she wanted me to live with her to save on rent!

I guess I should probably know this, but why are PennVet students called PennWe. Never heard the term when I was an undergrad there.

This could be a crucial part of my decision making process?

So, is anyone interviewing tomorrow? If so (and you're out there lurking!) good luck!

More importantly, has anyone gotten the mystical interview invites that are supposed to go out by the end of the week? Or can I just give up? 😀

Yea, Penn was my in-state too, and I got accepted at OSU as an OOS, and didn't even get an interview at Penn. Weird. Oh well, probably end up being cheaper in OH anyway. I wonder what I did wrong...

I doubt it was anything you did "wrong".

haha, just didn't do that much RIGHT...per say....

Yeah, I know how you feel. I was accepted at MSU and UM as an OOS and was really banking on an interview with Penn. I'm dying to know if the "last batch" of interview invites went out yet. I just want to know so I can move on.

I'm giving up. Guess I'll trade year round sunshine for snow storms :meanie:

Just thought i'd let you all know. Today I received via snail mail a letter from Penn saying they were offering me a scholarship of $5000/year. Penn is unfortunately still very pricey, so I doubt this will change my mind, but just wanted to let you all know that these elusive scholarships do exist!

Did they happen to mention what criteria you fulfilled to receive said scholarship? (i.e. certain gpa, community service, etc)

"high academic achievment."

So i'll take that to mean my numbers were good, which makes sense since GPA and GRE were definitely my strong points.
