If I remember correctly, UPenn should be done with sending out invites... Anyone know if they are done for sure? Anyone get anything in the past few days? So basically what I'm asking is... for those of us who have no contact from UPenn, can we scratch it off our lists?

Thanks,
Robert Langdon

I interviewed there earlier this month. One of the admissions staff people mentioned that last year the last day they interviewed was feb 6, it is probably going to be similar this year. But on the bright side when i got my invite from them they gave me a couple of days to choose from and most were just a week later so they might still be sending out invites for another week or so.

I pretty much think UPenn is done sending invitations, but maybe there will be some last minute invites this week. I'm chalking it up as a rejection on my end though! 😉

I called last week and they said that they interview until Feb. 6, and that I could still hear up through this week. So maybe it is still possible, although that only gives two weeks notice.

As of this friday, if you dont get an email from them. Thats end game.

You sure about the Friday? I don't want my hopes up even if they are false... this med school stuff is tiring already... Do tell. Thanks.

I can vouch for the posters in this thread. Unless something really strange goes on, this week is probably the end of interview invites.

I'm curious, according to US News Statistics for the entering class of 2002 (Not 2003 apparently), U Penn Interviewed about 10 international students that year but accepted zero of them. From your experience, are those mostly MD/PhD applicants, or a mixture of MD and MD/PhD applicants?

Now I feel silly to have applied there if they don't really consider int'l students at all.

Yeah, I called them Thursday of last week. They said this coming week (this current week) is the last week invites will be given out.

I know of two international students in my class. One is a MD student and one is a MD/PhD student. I know the MD/PhD program takes about 0 - 1 international students a year (only if they're really good basically) and I don't really know what special hurdles the international MDs have to jump. I also don't know how many international students are considered for MD or MD/PhD, but I'm sure it is a small number for each.

I just checked, out of 597 people in the whole school, about 1.2% are international students...that'll be about 7 people I think, average out to 2 people a year. (DANG!)

Are the two people you know affiliated with UPenn by any chance? (Like UPenn Undergrad, spouse who works/studies at UPenn)

The MD/PhD person I'm referring to--definately not. He's Canadian and went to Princeton undergrad (and lurks on here). Although, he was such a strong applicant that he got into just about every school that takes international MD/PhDs with funding. The MD student I'm thinking of didn't go to undergrad here and I'm pretty sure didn't have special connections to the school.
