Just need some advice on what to do. I initially applied to UPenn without knowing my DAT score. I got TS 19 AA 19 and PAT 19 and I'm thinking penn is out of reach. I am sitting here filling out the supplemental app, and I'm not sure if it's worth my time. I already paid the aadsas fee for it, but the check still hasn't been written. Should I just submit the supplemental and hope I get an interview? Or should I use a the 60 bucks I would save to add a different/not so prestigious school like USC, Arizona, or Roseman? Thanks in advance

$60 is nothing when you still have a chance to get an interview even if the chance is very slim. Not to mention you already paid AADSAS fee for it.
I'm in the same boat but I'm still submitting my supp app as we speak.
Their essay questions on supp on the other hand... Pretty dang annoying lol

Couldn't agree more..they are super tedious and time consuming. Thanks for your input though. Do they accept anyone with DAT's lower then 20?

if money isn't a huge issue I would say apply anyway. you really never know. after all, the reported average admitted dat score really is just an average

Do you think it would helpful to call them and get their opinion? Or should I just submit and hope for a miracle?

That wouldn't hurt but what are they going to say? Fee is non-refundable and they are making huge profit out of this. I'd be surprised if they tell you not to.
And 19 is still a decent score. Don't let the scores of people on this board fool you.
I see plenty of people with 19s got accepted into somewhere on my pre-dent association.
I know Upenn is strong school but just do it and go to church every sunday and pray hard like I do LOL
Keep your head up!

A round 19 is nothing to sneeze at! All your sections are higher than 16, correct?

I say- go for broke! Dental school is dental school whether it's in a state-of-the-art facility or in a cardboard box. If you can part with the money, why not? At least you gave it a shot- there won't be any regrets or a "What if" scenario distracting you.

Best of luck, OP!

Penn cares more about GPA than anything, if your GPA is very high, then I wouldn't stress over it, good luck!

I think what you should really be asking yourself is if you can travel to the interview if invited. If your heart really isn't into it, don't apply. For the sake of the DAT a 19 won't kill you if the rest of your app is desirable. But if it's just another school on the list take it out because it is a reach.

Alright thanks for the advice everyone. I'm just going to go ahead and apply. Penn has always been a dream of mine, so I think I'll just take the risk.

You take on no risk if you apply....

Risk implies you have something to lose (obviously the ~$150 to apply; AADSAS + supplemental fee). If you apply and don't get in, then you aren't any worse off than you are now.

+1 to praying 🙂, God listens!

If you already paid the fee, then I think you should just do the supplemental app. If the app is too time consuming, and you think your chances are slim any ways, I'd contact someone in admissions to get their opinion on the matter. This is actually what I just did for a school I'm very interested in. Good luck!
