UPittsburg- interview before 2'ary?

I just got an email from Pittsburg inviting me to an interview before I even submitted the secondary. I'm wondering if this is common amongst med schools or just Pittsburg. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

From what I hear it happens to 150 people or so every year, but I'm not quite sure what the requirements are, it does not appear to be based solely on numbers.
