So my freshman year sucked..2.93 cGPA, but every year after was 3.7+ cGPA. is this rare enough to talk about? i figure that adcoms will either...

a) realize that students are testing the waters and can have crappy first years
or
b) just see it for themselves and I wont need to talk about it

is that a fair assumption to make or should I just do it? i just don't know if that would be considered "wasting" the additional comments essay...

did anyone else talk about it in their additional comments? is my upward trend considered a big enough difference?

It will be clear from your year-by-year transcript that you have an upward trend. one place to comment on it is in your Secondary essays that ask about a challenge you faced, a major stress and how you handled it, or blips in your academic road. Your comments should show that you take responsibility and what you did to solve the problem. It's also fine to mention it in 'Additional Comments,' but I would try to leave it out of the Primary Statement.

They'll see it on their own. I don't think you really need to highlight it unless there was a specific and very understandable/major reason you did poorly the first year (e.g., roommate died, you had a sickness that put you in the hospital for 3 weeks, your mom/dad died, etc.). Otherwise, I'd simply leave it alone. Your transcript will speak for itself.

I wouldn't talk about it..stay away from any bad points of your application. From the look of your profile you should be a shoe-in🙂

i was thinking about it for the additional comments that some secondaries have...but def not the primary essay. that's already done.

From your stats, you are definitely getting a spot in a medical school.
