Hi,

Should I still apply to dental schools this cycle if I'm re-taking the DAT around November to December? If I apply this cycle, I'm applying with my previous DAT score of AA 17/TS 18/PAT 15 and with a masters degree?

Dude, you NEVER know if you'll get in...if $$ isn't an issue, then you might as well. Best of luck to you.

those are super average DAT scores.

it depends on your EC and GPA. But if you have the money, why not.

If you can retake it in August, it would be a lot better. You might risk schools rejecting you outright if you wait until November.

Might as well apply in November or wait until next year.

The admissions committees will likely not even consider you until November because you said you will be re-taking the DAT in November.

Don't waste your money.

Its possible to get in with your scores! ( i had 20ts, 19aa, 15pat, and even a 14qr). I got a few interviews but I didn't expect to get in. I had already paid for another DAT and was a week away from taking it and reapplying for the next cycle.

Point being, you never know. They may like you during interviews or find your EC's more intriguing over another applicant ... it could really be anything. You wont know unless you try.

I agree with some of the other posts, your scores are average and its getting exceedingly competitive to get into d-school. Perhaps you could apply to your state school and few others? I would not waste a bundle of money though, especially if its an issue.

Keep in mind that there will be a delay between the time you take your DAT and the time that you're scores are processes and reported to schools. So, if you take your DAT let's say sometime in mid Nov, your scores will get reported by late Nov or maybe even early January.
I believe by that time, most schools have already sent out their 1st (and perhaps their 2nd) round of acceptances. So, by the time they get to your application most of them probably have somewhere between 40-60% of their class filled.
That means you still have a chance to get in, specially if you ROCK the DAT.
So yea, if money is not an issue, by all means apply this cycle.

Good luck👍
