I was set to retake my dat this saturday and even thought i didn't feel ready i was still gonna go thru with it. yesterday i get a call that my brother who is overseas had died in his sleep. so after feeling like i had lost my mind I realized that i had to reschedule for the stupid test because in order to get to the funeral in time my flight would have to leave saturday morning. When I went to change the date the prometric webstie wouldnt let me even though i was a couple hrs before the "48 hr rule"

the question i'm trying to ask is how likely is it that these ppl will let me reschedule? i've been calling and keep getting a stupid machine. also what if they ask for some sort of proof that what i am saying is the truth. since it happened overseas its kind of hard to prove'

also if i cancel will schools know abt this. i already took it once and its prob gonna look bad. if anyone knows id appreciate it bc i dont want such a stupid thing on my mind before i leave

I am so sorry! I can't imagine what you are going through. I have no idea how to answer any of your questions. I know that itsgavinc knows pretty much everything so if he doesn't respond to this thread, I would PM him. Sorry I couldn't be any help. Good luck with this. 🙁

if its really necessary i guess i could postpone the flight and take it as planned but i'd rather not bc i'd probably fail. my head is throbbing and i'd rather not think

woohoo,
I suggest you post this in the Dental or Predental forum. Hope that someone can help answer your question.

when you call the Thompson's for rescheduling, don't choose the option, "rescheduling" but "scheduling" for an appointment - even though you've registered for DAT already. That way, you can directly talk with a representative. Give that a try.. Better hurry up!

I'm sorry for your loss. Losing a brother is probably one of the hardest things anyone could go through, I have a brother too and I can't even begin to fathom what you must be going through. My prayers will go out for you as well as your brother.
As for the DAT, I agree with Toony and I would call them up STAT. Given the circumstances, I'm sure they will do everything to postpone this test. In terms of taking the exam, I know that there would be no way in heck that I could even begin to take that test having lost my brother. You're probably stronger but at least give yourself some time to grieve.
Again, I'm sorry for you loss.
Greg
