i am an urm -- just got my mcat scores and they are not good -- a 5 -9 - 8 - T. Can anybody provide stats on urms who have been admitted to osteopathic med schools.

Hey,

If I'm not mistaken it's not too late to apply and retake the test in August. Believe me, you have time to study and do better if you really want it. You need to put in the money for some good review material and also bust your butt studying 6-8 quality hours a day at least 6 days a week until the time the test rolls around. It's all a matter of being prepared and how bad you want it. You have got to review to the point where everything including freshman chemistry is fresh in your mind.

I didn't start studying for last years August MCAT until around this time. I did exactly what I said above and I did quite well. You can do it if you want it.

You can find the stats for admitted URMS in allopathic schools on the AAMC website. The stats for URMS in osteopathic schools are likely to be similar.

A URM with a 22 is a shoo-in at most MD schools and all DO schools. Apply broadly and you'll be fine.

Not true. That's the old definition. Schools are able to classify as they wish now. University of Utah, for example, considers filipinos to be URM. Some schools consider ALL Hispanics to be URM.
