US Atlantic Bridge Program 2014

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I think the acceptances were sent to GEP applicants only. Right?!

6/5 year program applicants didn't recieve anything, right?
bexbex received word from the NUIG 5 year program.
Congrats bexbex!
Still crossing my fingers...

They didn't accept that haha they didn't even let me give it perhaps I didn't phrase my request correctly
If the FedEx rep refuses to look up the package using your name/home address, then hang up and call again. It happened with me a couple of times last year. Most of the FedEx reps are quite nice and will try to help you, but you could get the odd ones as well.

Could anyone of you guys give me FedEx # in the US?

Alright...

so I called this number 1 (800) 463-3339 (Consumer)
gave the sweet guy my name & address, he asked me whether it was FedEx ground or express, I said Express (just a guess) . but somehow they found a package for another lady :wtf: Then we tried ground & there was nothing for me too. :bang:

No worries. Last year, and over a course of a week, I kept calling FedEx like a maniac three or four times a day until that evening at 6 pm when the rep told me that a package was coming my way. The charge on the visa did not appear until 10 days later, so FedEx was the more accurate way to know.
I called ABP and they said there was no activity on my file so no one has rejected or accepted me yet and schools especially RCSI are still making decisions.

ABP are very cautious over the phone and they would just give you a generic answer. This happened to me and other people as well.
How was your RCSI interview?

It went well, they were really nice! They did ask me about my mcat score which was a 25 but I said I had just been nervous because I have test anxiety. The strongest point of my application is my full time job at the mayo clinic as a researcher so I talked about that as much as possible and tried to stay positive🙂 So they told you nothing had happened on your file either?

25 mact is not bad. I have a friend who got admitted to the med school at QU in Australia and his mcat score was 24.
I remember that I called ABP few times last year and my dad did the same. We got a variety of generic answers including "No activity" and "Your file is being reviewed with the utmost care, and we will inform you with the decision in writing once it becomes available".

Ya, I'm just feeling discouraged

Hello Everyone!! Congrats on your offers so far! I got an offer from NUIG a few days ago for the 5 year program. Has anyone got offers from UCD or TCD?
Don't feel discouraged Charlotte Haley.. let's hope your offers in the mail 🙂 Good luck everyone!!

Agreed. I e-mailed ABP on Monday asking about a general update. They said to hold tight for end of March/April (generic response). The next day I got my acceptance package, dated the day I e-mailed them.
I'm sure when you get home from your vacation you'll get a pleasant surprise in the form of an acceptance package. Your mayo job is very impressive!

Congrats to everyone who's been accepted! I'm also curious about whether anyone has gotten an offer from TCD, as that is my first choice. I read on last year's forum that first-round offers were sent out the first week of April; I wonder if that will be the case this year, too.

Awww thanks for the encouragement ya they just said no decision has been made for you and I thought eeepppp haha

Apparently they have already sent out some acceptances but will be continuing into next week for rcsi, ucc and nuig

I don't understand this. I was told by Atlantic Bridge I could only apply to NUIG, RCSI Bahrain, and TCD 5 year programs because they were geared towards those with a bachelors that had spent time in the workforce but had not taken the MCAT. If that is true, why are students in high school being given offers? This is disheartening.

I do however, congratulate you on your offers.

Just to let you know I received an offer from NUIG and I also have a bachelors degree (I'm 24 yrs old). Perhaps it seems that more highschool grads are being accepted either because there were more that applied or because there are simply more on the student doctor forums. I'm not sure but good luck and remember this is only the first round which means acceptances continue to go on until September!

I wonder if they are still sending out first round offers from nuig ucc and rcsi into next week

I have a question to any Canadians that applied to Ireland (I'm applying only next year):

- what is the justification of going to RCSI over UCD (assuming one gets into both)? RCSI seems to be more expensive but with no justifiable reason behind it's massive price difference.

I was just curious as to what you all thought.

Steele: I was told the same. Maybe mogizzle is an exceptional case with lots of AP/college credits and advanced electives in the sciences, though. To those of us who applied to Trinity and haven't received any offers yet I would say that maybe it's because we're going to receive an offer from Trinity and, as some have mentioned, ABP (usually? sometimes?) doesn't like to give multiple offers.

That could be true but trinity hasn't released first round offers yet

Right. I meant that those of us who haven't received an offer from the schools that have already sent out their first round offers (NUIG, UCC, RCSI [?]) can hope to get one from Trinity eventually when they send out theirs. I'm hoping so anyway; really wanna go there!

We'll I guess the only thing we can do is keep our fingers crossed.

Oh, have fun then.

Is it possible to get a package on saturday, or sunday??

If I received a notice on my door, how long do I have to get it before they sent it back to the original sender?

Hey guys. Don't worry too much about not getting the package. The FedEx guy just rang my doorbell once and put the package in my screen door. So I am pretty sure they will drop it off even if you aren't home. Good luck 🙂

If one had a first round interview for RCSI, would they expect a decision from RCSI by this week or next?

this is probably not the case if you live in an apartment building. most often a notice of attempted delivery is posted in the lobby, by your mailbox, or on your front door. this notice usually specifies when you can pick up the package from the depot and the operating hours and location of the depot it will be held at (perhaps it also mentions how long you have until it is returned to the sender, i'm not sure). at the depot, you can sign for the package and subsequently retrieve it.

surgeon14, if you are wondering about the date it will be returned to the sender and it doesn't say on your notice, i would recommend calling fedex and giving them the tracking number specified on the notice. perhaps they will be able to provide you with this information.

but, i agree with you magnimopus; i wouldn't worry too much about not getting the package either.

@magnimopus & @zeit thank you so much for your reply. I know you are right, but this waiting is kinda driving me crazy.
I'll try to chill out.

And if we don't then just keep trying and improving the old resume I mean medical school is a big dream and it takes some people years. I'm prepared for either outcome.

Thats the back up plan. But If I don't get accepted, I will apply to some schools in Australia, Netherlands and Poland in addition to Ireland.

I hope it works this year though.

I wonder if RCSI, UCC and NUIG will release more offers this week, ABP told me they haven't made final decisions on candidates yet. And I guess the other three schools with start letting people. know this week or the next.

Hey everyone. I just now registered for SDN. From the looks of it no one has received an acceptance from RCSI but have for RCSI GEP? Can anyone explain to me the difference (if there exists one) between RCSI and RCSI GEP? I applied to RCSI's 5/6 year program. I had my interview about 3 weeks ago and I thought things went pretty well. Let me know if anyone receives their RCSI acceptance! Thank you.

I had my interview on march 7th for the RCSI 5/6 year program and I haven't received anything as well. I was told by the people there that applicants would usually receive a decision two weeks after the interview. I think it would be best to contact ABP to see when one would receive a decision after having an interview (specifically RCSI).

You had your interview later so you might hear back later too

doctors1995, rcsi gep refers to 'graduate entry program' i.e. rcsi's 4-year program.

I thought an interview for RCSI during the early week of March was quite early for the pacific coast of Canada? When were the first round of interviews for RCSI?

For those who received their acceptances: did you receive them in the form of emails, post, or both?

Oh ok, my bad sorry. I had mine in new york on feb 28th but I guess they conducted them over the course of a week.

I had my interview in NY on Feb. 28 as well!
I'm tempted to email ABP and ask them details about how long each school will take to release first round offers and when because this waiting is driving me crazy! Especially knowing some people were already accepted last week.

Me too! I was thinking of waiting through this next week (at least until next Sunday) and if nothing comes, I was planning to email ABP. Best of luck to you! I cannot wait any longer, I'm going crazy!

When did you have your interview in the day I might have met you! Ya it feels so cruel they make us wait, getting that interview made me feel a little too confident I think haha.
