I am a 4th year dental student in the United Stated and am interested in either doing a residency or private practice in Canada. Where do I start?

Hi, Go to www.ndeb.ca u will get all ur answers. To practise in Canada u have to give the licensing exam(which is common for all of Canada) and which consists of written exam and OSCE. U can take this exam when u r in final yr of either a Canadian or US accredited dental school or after u graduate. If u r in US school u need to submit a letter from the Dean saying u r in good academic standing and confirming that u r in final year along with the exam application which u will find on the above website.

Hope this helps, take care and best.

Is there certain areas in Canada that are more lucrative than others?

i hear Montreal and Toronto?

I'm delighted to see this thread. I've some questions about canada too. i'm on h4 visa in the U S, and am applying to the advanced standing programs. My question is ,if once awarded a dds from US, can I practise in canada , even if i dont have a greencard. Is a dentist's earning capacity in canada
similar to the US.

Ive heard that it is the same salaries, except in Canadien dollars.\
So in the US a good starting salary is $100, 000 American dollars
In the Canada it would be $100, 000 Canadian dollars.

I think $100, 000 American= $112, 000
But its cheaper to live in Canada?

Can someone confirm

Living in Canada is not cheaper. Don't forget the taxes we pay here. That will eat your salary

I agree to what Iraqi says about the taxes, but believe me Dentists in Canada earn good money. Its almost equivalent to US (OF course Canadian Dollars).Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Calgary are definately more lucrative than other places.

U can definately work in Canada with a US DDS degree provided u pass the NDEB of Canada. And u need to be a permanent resident or Citizen of Canada in order to practice dentistry here.

Is it easy to become a permanent resident of Cananda if you are a US citizen?

Can you give some more information abt NDEB of canada? Is it a written exam or kinda licensure equivalent. Thanks in advance

Does anybody know whats the equivalent of FAFSA in canada,i.e what kind of government aid does one get in canada for education.

if u r in Ontario its equivalent is OSAP. Ontario student assistant program. Its similar in other provinces too.
