I don't think the Austin campus have sent out their interview invitations for the Fall 2012, yet. However, I anticipate they will be in the next couple of days.

It looks like everyone that applied to the USA San Diego campus has received an interview email or rejection. Hopefully that means that they can start working on USA Austin now :)

I drove by the new school and it's going to be beautiful! The campus is only 10 miles from my house and right across the street from the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center. http://www.wildflower.org I'm even more excited now. I can't wait to hear about interviews :)

It looks like all the USA Florida invitations have gone out too. That means USA Austin has to be next :)

I went to the information session tonight and found out that interviews are going to be March 25th in Austin. So that means email invitations for interviews may not be sent out for 2 more weeks. Besides being a little bit behind schedule everything else seems like it's coming together. It is going to be a wonderful program!

They also said that they are only accepting 35 students for the fall 2012 class and that there are still spots open so there is time if you still want to get your application in :)

Does that mean everyone who has applied will get in??? Thanks for sharing this information

Your guess is as good as mine. They didn't say but I'm feeling a bit more secure now :)

Please post stats - those of you who are accepted to USA Austin

I just got my email invitation for the Austin interviews on March 23rd!!! I'm so excited :)

If anyone is interested in meeting up and doing some practice interview questions just send me a pm. Congrats to everyone that recieved the good news email today!!!

I received an email today basically saying that anyone who did not receive notice of an interview yet for the Austin campus need not worry. The March 23rd interviews are the first round of interviews. Also, the Austin campus is not yet approved to receive federal aid. They hope to be approved in time for the start of the Fall 2012 class as both of the other campuses are approved to receive aid. I sure hope so! I interview on the 23rd and receiving federal aid will play a big part on whether or not I am able to attend this fall.

Hello again from the Admissions Office. We wanted to keep you updated on a few important items.

AUSTIN CAMPUS:
We are excited to share that we recently held a “Golden Shovel” ceremony on the site of the new Austin campus. Visit our website frequently to watch the campus grow: http://www.usa.edu/Texas.aspx.

ADMISSIONS INTERVIEWS IN AUSTIN:
First round of interviews will be held on Friday, March 23rd. Don’t worry if you have not received an invitation yet as we will be scheduling additional interview dates in the coming months.

FINANCIL AID:
We are working through the process to enable Austin campus students to be eligible to receive federal financial aid, and will keep you posted on our progress. Part of the process includes formal notice to all applicants (click here to see attached). Please print, sign, and return this form to me by mail, fax or email to be included in your application file by March 16th. Should you have any questions about financial aid, please visit our website www.usa.edu or contact the financial aid staff directly at 800-241-1027.

We look forward to helping you achieve your personal and professional goals through the University of St. Augustine!

Hello anyone and everyone out there! I will gladly be joining some of you for interviews and orientation on March 23rd. I was elated to hear the news to say the least and am super excited for this weekend. This might be a long shot, but no harm in asking right? I don't yet have a place to stay during my visit and I was actually hoping to meet lots of Austinites and save some money during my time there. I'm coming from Seattle, and I haven't been able to make any solid connections yet. I hope to be as frugal and friendly as possible during my time in Austin as this trip and others I have planned for this summer are proving to be quite expensive. Please get back to me if you know anything! Thanks a ton!

How did everyone feel about the interviews yesterday? I am so relieved it's over and feeling hopeful that I made it. Let the waiting and watching my phone begin. It seems like the other campuses notified students after a week. I hope we find out next week. Please let us find out next week!

The Austin faculty all seemed very friendly and experienced :)

For everyone that is in the 2nd round of Austin interviews these are the questions they asked our table.

1. What made you want to be a PT
2. A situation where you've done a great job
3. Biggest weakness
4. How do you handle stress
5. A situation where you had to deal with conflict at work/school
6. Biggest obstacle so far on your way to DPT school

Our essay was "Why do you want to be a PT?"

Let me know if you have any questions.

I had a different essay question than you Maya. Thats interesting I thought they would all be the same. Does anyone know once they accept us how long we have to make a decision?

What was your essay question?

I also feel very confident in my interview and am hoping to get a phone call next week saying I was accepted. My groups interview questions were: Why do you want to be a PT? How do you handle stress? What is the difference between a PT and PTA? Describe a situation in which you encountered a conflict at work/school and how you dealt with it. How do you model wellness/fitness in your life? And my essay question was What will be the biggest problem you face in your graduate education? I already have a graduate education. Ha. But it was a simple essay question to answer. I counted at least 44 people there to interview. 11 tables with 4 people at each. Hope this info helps. :)

My essay question was discuss the advantages/ disadvantages to our healthcare system.

It was hard for me. I do not keep up with the political stuff lol. I am really afraid my essay is going to bring me down :(

From what I read from the other St. Augustine Florida/San Diego campus it looks like those who were accepted were notified on the Thursday after they interviewed or 6 days later. So now of course I'm checking my phone every 2 seconds waiting. Please let them decide super quick. I want to start celebrating!!!

Nothing yet. Im hoping to hear something by Friday.

I have been watching my phone for days... Waiting is torture...

Agreed. Sigh. I also have been watching for days. Maybe today is the day.

I got in!! Goodluck everyone! Can't wait to move to Austin and start the program! :)

I just received my acceptance letter into the Austin program via email. really excited!!

Just got an acceptance email as well. Good luck to those still waiting

Just got my acceptance as well! Congrats to the others, and good luck to everyone waiting!

I just my acceptance email!!! Yay!!!!! I am so happy right now.

Big congratulations to everyone!!! What a great day!

I got the call yesterday as well! Congrats to myself (haha) and all the rest!!!!!

I got my acceptance e-mail yesterday! Congrats everyone!

Does anyone know how many of us there are?

Just wondering, how does everyone that plans on going plan on paying for the program? I remember signing a form stating that they wouldn't have federal aid until after the fall term. These finances are starting to worry me.

I have been accepted and I just applied for the Sallie Mae loan. It was super easy and I was able to get a 7% interest rate. Since the federal loans are 6.8% interest, it wasn't much of a difference for me to change to the private loans. Before I applied I was worried also but now I feel relieved. I hope that information helps :)

regarding references for the USA application - it is just the two pages in the application packet, right? Put and 'X' here and the short answer questions. I don't need to also have them write a separate LOR, right?

Yes. Some of mine put the LOR and just checked off the sections because they had already written it but the LOR isn't necessary.

I called and spoke to financial aid yesterday. I asked about the federal loans and when they expected to be able to offer them for Austin students. They said it would definitely be within the first year and that they are hoping to have it ready to go by the first semester in August. They also told me that if they do not have them ready to go by the first semester, you can still just take out 40k in private loans knowing that you will eventually get the 20.5k in federal (60K is the total cost of attendance for a year) at some point in the first year. For this reason, they are going to disburse half of the private loans the first semester instead of disbursing them in thirds. This is just for those of us that have to take out the entire cost of attendance in loans and not just enough to cover tuition. I hope all of that makes sense. :)

I heard they are accepting 35 students total so there are still several spots open.

Do you think the only ones that have been accepted are on FB and here? If so that is a very small number. I am sure there are some people that have been accepted that we just dont know about.

Thanks so much for sharing this. I feel relieved knowing that the federal loans will be available soon.
