USC 2009-2010 Applicants

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hic hic, I've been calling home almost everyday this week to check on the mail!
Anyway, if they mail it out by this friday; we will have the result by next week then! What's good timing! I'm going on a trip that week! 🙁
Again, good luck guys! :xf:

Ice Queen...

Thanks Spinelli, I didn't finish reading the thread the first time I saw Sungieality's post. Anyways, I'm glad that the wait is almost over, just several more days...

No prob 🙂.. i wish we find out tomorrow.. but not so much if I get the dreaded white envelope that says ACTIVE CONSIDERATION 😡 ( i didn't do so hot on the writing portion)

Ahh, I'm nervous! I'm expecting a white envelope 🙁. I don't think the writing portion matters that much, though.. in last year's thread someone didn't even finish it and they still got in, so don't lose hope!

Hmm so people who get acceptance letters, would it come in a big envelope then?...I thought maybe they'll trick us and send everything in a white envelope! Does anyone know?

I don't think I did well on the writing portion either. For some reason, I thought they wouldn't take the essay from us and we could have it for all 20 minutes. It was totally unexpected for me when they took it from us in 5 min, and I didn't have good notes on the article by then. Oh well, all I can do now is wait...

I just called them this afternoon and they told me that all the mails have been sent out by last night!
Also, if you are on hold, you will probably receive an email from them on Friday!

Is this for those who interviewed, or all applications?

At least AC doesn't mean rejection.. A few are accepted from the AC Pool are accepted after the next interview and so on. I interviewed in November and wasn't accepted until a few months after the last interview. Don't lose hope!

Ya.. i got placed on AC last year because I did horribly on my writing portion.. (I asked Xin why I was placed on AC)

good luck to you!

Oh, so once you got the AC notice you can email Xin and ask her why?

i just got my yellow envelop with my acceptance 😀!! i am soo happy, usc is definitely my 1st choice!!! 😍

i feel like i have a AC letter coming my way again... 🙁

Congrats to everyone that got in! Do you all live in socal? I live in norcal and I checked the mail today and didn't get anything.. someone also said that if you get placed on-hold, you'll get an email, but I didn't get anything yet either...

My letter was dated yesterday, so it may take another day to get to you. 😀

Thanks! Hopefully I get it tomorrow, then.. or they could have mailed it to my college address in San Diego, even though I just changed my preferred address to my home one. I called admissions and I think she said that if you get placed on hold, you won't get a letter, but an e-mail...

Congrats to everyone who got in!!! I live in Southern Cali but didn't receive an email or letter today....I really hope I get something tomorrow. This waiting is really killing me since I know some people who live in Westwood who received their yellow envelopes today.

Faster snail mail, faster!!!

so if i haven't recieved an e-mail about a rejection or waitlist....that means i got accepted?

i live in chicago too...doubting it'll be in the mail 2maro

I got the 'AC' email as well 😱😡!!! and I just cannot help but think like its a rejection especially when EVERYONE who's not accepted are all waitlisted... do u guys know if it's like this for every interview they have?? like they either accept you or put you on active consideration w/o any rejections?? i'm a reapplicant to USC and it's my top choice, i am really clueless this time, however, as to why i got on AC list again especially when i felt like the interview process went reeeelli well this time around!! someone mentioned in these forums that they don't really consider the writing portion as heavily as the interview portion, but maybe not?? i've got three more out of state schools to hear back from with no more interviews scheduled ahead, i am feeling very miserable...🙁
my pre-pharm gpa is 3.27, PCAT composite 82 (VA 78, Bio 84, RC 50, QA 81, Chem 85)
anybody on same boat??

I got the yellow envelope today 🙂. People in the bay area should check their mail asap!

good work ZeroC0mbine, arcticrevolver, and kogekao.

where do you guys live, go to undergrad, GPA? Im curious to see who else I might be going to school with.

i havent gotten the AC/reject e-mail so once the snow clears up in chicago that yellow envelope should come right?

In years past, AC letters included stats for how many accepted, how many AC'd. Anybody have those, care to post. If history repeats itself, probably no rejects this round, just acceptances and ACs.

I was put on hold too. And in the email, they said that they interviewed 144 applicants, 55 were accepted, and everyone else was put on hold. So yes, they didn't reject anyone yet.

Congrats kogekao! I'm happy for you. You are a strong applicant and I hope to see you at other interviews in this application cycle 😉

Yay! Just got my yellow envelope today!!! Happy holidays everyone!!!

Do the people who are on ac get reviewed after each interview session or not until the very end after all the interviews are done?

I got AC too... I'm so bummed now. It totally feels like a rejection.

Do people in AC from Nov have a higher priority than the AC from later interviews or are they all reviewed in one big pile at the end?

I don't know how lame or stupid this sounds, but I'm having a really hard time deciding between USC and MWU. They both have their pros and cons. 🙁

what is AC stands for? I still got nothing...other than saying they received my stuffs

They review after each cycle, so the more cycles you're in, the better the chances, but only a couple here or there usually before the end, then it's one big pile.

55 is pretty big. I don't remember it being more than 40 the last two years from the first interview cycle. There are a couple people I'm pulling for, including one that was on their 3rd interview with USC.

Active Consideration. (=hold/waitlist) They call it active consideration because you are actively considered after every interview session ends. A couple people will be pulled from AC each time typically.

Glendale or Chicago. I would assume Glendale, but I've seen people apply to both MWU's and others.

Glendale! I've been going back and forth, and USC is the better choice, besides the added cost and time. 😀 You got any advice for me Farmercyst?

Depends, which aspect are you looking for advice in, choosing or what to do after you've made a choice? Academic, housing,....?

I was trying to get some help in deciding where to go. I spent a lot of time thinking about it and I'm about to rip out my hair 😕 I don't mind paying the extra money for USC as long as I can be certain it'll be worth it. 🙄

To really help, we'll need to do some discovery. If you don't mind sharing, this could be useful.

What do you want to get out of pharmacy school?
What practice setting do you want to go into?
What are you bringing to the table? (leadership experience, pharmacy exp, etc)
Do you have others coming with you (wife, kids)
Which site are you closest to?
What extracurriculars would you consider doing?(do you know what's available?)
I'm sure I could think of others, but this would be a good starting point to figure out which school is more in line with what you want. Granted, I can't help with the other school, but I can let you know where USC comes in.
