Hi everyone,

Heard that USC results are out so I thought I would start this thread for those students who are accepted or on the waiting list. I am still waiting to hear from them but I know some people who just received something in the mail today. Best of luck to those of us waiting!!! 👍

So far, I have only heard acceptances and "waiting lists" letters.

I've got my USC result today. I'm on their alternate list. The funny thing is they say " We are pleased to offer you an alternate position....". Should I be happy? Is there anybody who knows how great is the chance of alternate applicants to get in?

After the interview we were told it will take 3-4 weeks for the results ....

I've got my USC result today. I'm on their alternate list. The funny thing is they say " We are pleased to offer you an alternate position....". Should I be happy? Is there anybody who knows how great is the chance of alternate applicants to get in?

Congrats for your letter perfectdent. 👍 You should definitely be happy. From what I have heard, those on the alternate list in USC are generally eventually accepted. Current students have told me that if you are among the top 15-20 alternates, you should make it. I personally know at least 10 students who were at the USC interview, but were also accepted at UPenn, Boston, or Loma Linda. They are choosing those schools above USC so the alternates benefit.

I am referring to the International Foreign Trained Dentist Program Results, not the DDS program. When I spoke with John, he said that they would try to get the results out within a week or two and they have from the looks of it. Best of luck to you!

Sorry to hear about your rejection. When did you get interviewed? Are you an applicant of International Dentist program? Did you get result in regular mail or FedEX? Where are you located in USA?

Sorry to hear about your rejection Antigen. Don't worry though. I am sure you will have other opportunities and will get admission somewhere. We are all in the same boat and I have faced rejections too. All we can do is try our best and leave the rest to fate.

Manik, as far as I know, everyone in this forum is discussing the International Dental Program so I am sure Antigen was referring to this program specifically.

I can't imagine you have been rejected with such wonderful scores!!!??? I can't get those scores even when I'm dreaming!!! I hope that you have been successful with your application to other schools of dentistry.
Are you in Northern or Southern CA?

yes at the interview I also met many students who were already accepted at other schools and also who were going for the UOP interview... and many students I talked to were not keen on the PBL way of teaching!!!
..(since you practically teach yourself ..with help from fellow students and seniors)...

I do not believe that the alternate list letter has a number/rank on it. At least they did not have it last year. As far as how it works, well, they have sent acceptance letters to 32 students and they are waiting to see how these students respond. As students opt out, they inform wait listed students that they can join if they still wish to. How they rank the wait listed students is uncertain and they have not told students in the past how they rank in the wait list. My understanding is that anywhere from 10-15 students may opt out, so those waitlisted in that rank should have a good chance.

I am still waiting for a letter and I am praying that I at least make it to the alternate list. I am skeptical on PBL too, but at this point, admission anywhere is all I want 🙂 If I hear anything about rank, I will post it on the forum. Best of luck to you Gaura, and others who are waiting.

I am quite surprised to hear that USC is e-mailing people about their acceptance. Not to sound paranoid, but are all accepted candidates being e-mailed, since I have heard nothing so far. For those of you e-mailed, are you in Canada (might explain it). What about those of you wait listed? John had mentioned last week that he cannot divulge info over the phone or e-mail, but I guess that's not the case 😕

According to the e-mail, they said they have already sent packages, for the people who are out-side of USA or east coast who have not received, ..I think they are informing through e-mail. I live in east coast and today I received the package.

I just found out that I was rejected by USC. My mail had actually arrived at my home yesterday, but no one told me the result since I was still doing interviews at UCSF (and they wanted me to stay focused and positive). I knew my clinical did not go well at USC so I am not surprised. Anyway, best of luck to those on the waiting list. I still have interviews elsewhere so there are still chances. Keep posting your results everyone and congrats to all those accepted.

As I was telling you earlier that students have nothing to lose NOW ,.... after the interview and the test results have been declared.!!.....
We all should be more proactive and keep going ...!! and post our results whatever it may be ..it is no big deal now ... 😎 😉
