PBL or Not to PBL that should be your question? The location and $$ shouldn't ever be the issue. The PBL is different so if you like go for it, if you aren't sure go elsewhere. Love to have you with us in '08, but you gotta decide if the PBL is for you!! Good luck!!!

Hey DentalHope,

Congrat first off for getting in...I know how much you wanted it! Did you wind up writing that letter?...if so, i'm thinking about doing the same...maybe it'll help with getting in!!

Thanks so much. No I did not write USC a letter. Honestly I sat down at my computer to start to write it and I checked my email and there is was 🙂 . Good luck to you, if there is anything I can do to help let me know.

i need a miracle now. and for those who have been accepted already (congrats) and if you decide to go elsewhere, please withdraw your application ASAP so that those on the waitlist can get your spots. haha

Sounds like it. I've heard some people mention they were on the waiting list. There will probably be some more movement though.

Rumors around school say that the class is full and they are done interviewing for this go round. Good luck to those of you still waiting and congrats to those new acceptances. See you in the fall.
 
Have any April acceptees receive the acceptance packet in the mail yet?
 
I'm still not in and devastated. i really don't even know what to do...

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. I have no idea how many seats will open up at USC and whether I'm #1 or #100 on the waitlist. This weekend, I started my application for next year. Surprisingly it made me feel better, like I'm more in control of the situation. I really want to be a dentist and I feel confident that it will eventually work out.

shibaroo, I hope you make it into USC, but if it doesn't work out this round, think of what else you could do this upcoming year to improve your application and also think of some FUN things you could do with a "year off". Then, apply next year!

I was told by the admissions office that the class is FULL last friday

they took forever to get it to us. I called and gave them my credit card # over the phone so at least my spot was secured. Then when the packet came I 2-3 day mailed it to them, and once it was delivered I called to make sure they had it all. This was my third time applying I didn't want anything to get screwed up. Yes.... I know that I am paranoid, but I slept well that night.
 
What was in the packet that you had to 2-3 day mail it to them? I sent my $500 over the phone as well...

I didn't HAVE to 2-3 day it, but i did anyways. Just a peice of paper to sign and the requirements of being accepted.
 
Oh ok cool, thanks, which cycle were u admitted during, december, jan, feb, etc.?

Congratulations DentalHope! I saw earlier in the thread you really really wanted to go to SC. Any particular reasons?

I am trying to find out as much as I can about USC to make my decision for next fall.
 
got accepted on april 4th so ill be seeing a few of you in LA this August. I was in the interviews during the feb. cycle we had the PBL about the sick dog. fun stuff.
 
I'm hoping that that there will be some post-May 1st action from the alternate list. Anybody hear anything lately?

My biggest reason for USC was the football team hahaha. No the biggest reason for me was it fit me and my learning style. PBL is very different for some but for it it fits. Another reason is the school its self USC carries a good name all over the country and the school is beautiful.

Congrats on getting in. And for all of you still waiting don't give up there will be other spots there are always other spots. I have family that went to USC and they said that they were getting people all the way up to the second week of orientation so keep on keep'n on it will happen

The thing is, lets say if I got the second week of orientation, how am i gonna pay for it? lol
I mean it would take weeks if not months for fafsa to go through

You should fill one out now. It is after all the Free Application for Federal Student Aid , and you'll need one for any school where you get picked off the waitlist.

But I can see where it would take some time for the loan to go through. And that would be a shock to the bank account: $3,000 deposit + moving costs. Private loan when the time comes?

yea me too, I was finally able to talked myself into getting ready for next application cycle.
 
Congrats to those of you that got accepted. I didn't get an e-mail. I did send them a letter a couple weeks ago stating that I really wanted to go to USC and wrote about new activities, volunteer work and such, so I feel that gave it my best shot anyway. It helps to see another wave of acceptances to spur me on to get my application for next year finished and try to stop hoping for this year. The thing that scares me now is that my GPA (~3.3) will be about the same and I wasn't planning to retake the DAT (19). Well, at least I'll have it in early and maybe it helps to be a reapplicant to show commitment. Trying to stay positive...

Nope. The latest emial from Brian said they were still working on putting all the health stuff together.

I too would like to get everything done ASAP while I can still make use of the health center on my campus and their cheap prices.

Isn't that information included in the acceptance email?

"As a precondition of enrollment, all accepted students are required to meet the School's health requirements. A physical exmination, and the following screenings must be completed. TB clearance, meales, tetanus immunization and hepitatis B status."

I did really bad during the first two years of undergrad.
Undergrad Science 3.39
Undergrad Overall 2.91
Graduate Science / overall 3.88
DAT 20/19
I was interviewed back in March and just got accepted off the waitlist.

Yes, but all of the documentation forms needed to verify these things are currently being put together. (ie. physical, TB test, etc.)

THANKS!!! I was about to go get those records today, but decided to do it on monday. You saved me a trip, and probably $20 in gas 😀
 
I was in the process of getting my medical records in order for NYU... I have to go back and tell my doctor to put my records on hold for a bit.

I have a undergrad gpa of 3.17 and dat of 21.
