USC call

No idea... there is no info on the internet about it... somebody here mentioned that duggan institute in CA equilibrates for a fee... not sure about it, you will have to call...
other option would be to buy a new, equilibrated typodont just for the exam and after that you can sell it to someone that needs it for practice...

If its a new typodont then it is equiliberated enough that u will not have any problems. It basically means that u have the required contact points between opposing teeth. You do not need to spend a lot of money and effort to do it from expensive institutes.

hi ameloblastoma i did receive a mail from targetdds, the practical session a one-day session having 5 batches held on 5 different days and and each batch consisting of 3 to 5 people and its from 8 a.m to 12 midnight, fees he dint mention so i have mailed him back with my doubts will let u know later. u need to have ur own instrument the list is in my mail, if u can send ur mail id i wud forward u the mail. the session begin from 16th oct to 20th oct and its first come first basis.

This essentially means that all the teeth in the typodont must be in proper contact with the opposing teeth. If you guys have been practicing in a typodont and have changed the artificial teeth several times. It is highly likely that the typodont is not in equilibrium any more. You can check this by using the articulating papers. You can adjust the high spots using slow speed, softlex and jiffy. Make sure you donot alter the condition of gingiva..

you may also have your friends and experienced ones help you with it.. Or buy a new one which usually is fairly equilibrated. However you have to check the typodont while you buy it so that it doesn't have unwanted spaces inbetween opposing teeth.

good luck to you all

i too have been invited. thing is , when i called the dental store they said they don have typodont. am trying to place an order online. can anyone pls tell me whether it should be mounted on articulator or two individual arches. i couldn see individual arches in any website.also i couldn find 956 f.g, 701 r.a, #700 r.a, bur 888-012 and pliers. these are the things they din have when i placed order. can anybody tell me the description of the burs other than numbers? that would help me to place an order. pls help me and its very urgent.have only four more days left since am leaving on friday.

why do we need pliers for operative dentistry exam? pls excuse me if it sounds stupid. i couldn guess why its needed.

hey aruna, the only thing i can answer is the typodont. you can buy it from columbia dentoform websit. you will find a phone number there; call them tomorrow morning and give them the model number and also ask them to ship it the same day and you will get it in three days

thank you damas. still am waiting for some one to help me with the burs.

Hi everybody........anybody knows, what will happen if i take a brand new Typodont with good contact points but not equilibirated??

hey whiss dont worry,,i dont think it will matter if u dont get ur typo equillibrated,,,last i went to usc interview,,,i had not got my typo equillibrated and i was waitlisted and the reason was i slightly nicked the adjacent tooth for one prep,,,,usc is very particular abt mutilation of adjacent teeth,,,so just dont worry for all these things,,,concentrate on preps and try to cut as many tooth as possible and get as much practice as possible before u go and yes u cant use any seperators so try carrying the most thinnest tapered burs to break contacts,,,
and last piece of advice,,,just practice practice and practice,,,try using some books like shillinburg for prostho preps,,they usually ask for 3/4 and 7/8 crowns,,,

good luck

A new typodont will be equiliberated. Basically it means that the teeth have good occlusal contacts with opposing teeth. You can check with an articulating paper. Just place it in between the upper and lower members of the articulator and tap together a few times. If you see articulating marks on all the teeth then you will not have a problem during your test. It is best to spend your time practicing preps than worrying about artiiculation. Like I said if it is a new typodont and you have not replaced any teeth then it will be O.K. When You are ready to take the licensing test ( after 2 years of schooling) your dental school will teach you more about equiliberation. The scope of dentistry that u will be doing for the test now will only require occlusal contacts between teeth. Do not stress.....practice , practice and practice preps. Good luck everyone!
P.S I do have a book that tells u how to equiliberate typodonts ...........if u really want I can try to scan it. However as i stressed before it is beyond the scope of what u need right now.

Any girl interested in sharing accomidation for USC interview please pm me.I'm from bay area.

Thanks for the information to all. I bought a new one but still the 3rd molars on one side are not in proper contact...even by screwing everything properly...I am somehow getting a high point on that side...Do I need to reduce it?

According to Emily, They dont check the instruments but its good to have them....

Asked a friend who is in dental school...

Equilibration
Goal : Typhodont should not be rocking when you occlude. Press hard.

How to get that : Occlude the typhodont and check the rocking. Check the screws on back of the typho. Make sure they are tight, sometimes you have to be SLIGHTLY loosen,(not exactly loosen but not too tight) then and it will be fine.
Use articulating paper to check the high points. There should be even marks distributed all the teeth. Keep on adjusting till u get there. Donot adjust a lot.
Tooth should not look shaved or reduced. Use ultra fine diamond. light touches.
And thats it.
BASICALLY YOUR TEETH SHOULD NOT ROCK WHEN U OCCLUDE HARD. TIGHTEN YOUR TYPHO SCREWS IN FINAL POSITION BEFORE ADJUSTING. MOSTLY U DONOT NEED A LOT OF ADJUSTMENT AND GO GENLTE ON PLASTIC TEETH.

All the best guys....

Hi! Is it a one time interview in USC or do they have a second set also? I have not received any news from them regarding the interview, no invitation/rejection?!?!?!?! What does it mean? Am I still considered for an interview?
Thanks and good luck!!!

U should call USC and ask. As far as I know they wont have a second set. They already interviewed 145 people against 32 seats

I called up USC again today. Now they are saying the will decide by mid Nov.

i have heard that they dont inform everbody about his /her status.
they only tell ppl who have been selected in the interview.
so if you dnt get any mails , it is most likely that you have got rejection!!

after the interview Emily told us, selections will be informed thro email and mail, and rejections will be sent thro ordinary mail. so i hope everyone will be informed of the status.

last year they sent the acceptances in 16 days after the interview,we will get our letters sometimes next week hopefully :scared:

Hey good luck to all the guys who attended the interview at USC.

They have a voice message on their phone that says results will be mailed and emailed in mid November.

Hi, I called USC 2 weeks ago and was told a letter of interview/rejection would be sent by 1st of November, even though I missed 1st interview!!!!
It's really weird what's happening at USC, especially with all other schools this year.... They are carefully selecting candidates for interview, and even for admission... Maybe they are thinking for 2nd or 3rd round of interviews, who knows?!?! Just keep the hope! 👍
Good luck to all!!!!! :luck:
