USC Class of 2013

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Hopefully the fact that acceptances weren't given out until 4/19-4/21 still applies this yr. As of right now, I am not sure if they will be giving out any more acceptances. Does anybody know how many people get pulled off the waitlist on avg? (through previous years)

So I went back to last year's USC thread in SDN to get an approximate timeline for acceptances, waitlist, etc...and what I found are:

1. Acceptances were not given out until 4/19-4/21 (so this year it's early...or maybe the interview dates are earlier).

2. There were a total of 130 students on the waitlist last year. People didn't get their waitlist number until mid-May (5/18). But since this year acceptances are sent out earlier, people might get their waitlist # early too.

3. USC accepted 200+ last year into the pharmd program (before pulling people off the waitlist).

I think someone said 60 people?

So do they put everyone on the AC list if theyweren't accepted after the interview?

Yup. I was looking at the forum from last year, and the interviews were held around the same date. A couple of days later, so maybe they won't be done with acceptances until the end of this month.

Did it say how far into the waitlist they pulled from? I'm sending good vibes to us AC people. I really hope all of us that have been frequenting this thread get in. :xf:

I can tell you the last two years they were not pulled of in the order they were originally sent. Since your position changes as spring transcripts start to come in (mid-May through July). I seem to remember my year that we had like #28 pulled before #23 and #50-something before #30-something. So don't put too much stock into the numbers past the first 2 weeks. I was kinda lucky. I sent in my waitlist letter and before they sent out the numbers I was taken off the waitlist. I'm not sure what number I would have been, since I never got one. I don't remember exactly when I got my acceptance (though it's posted for posterity in the 2011 thread somewhere). I do know I was celebrating it on my birthday which is May 19th, so it had to have been before that.

Someone from last year was #70 on the waitlist and said that it was totally hopeless, and never responded again in the forum. So I'm guessing anything past #50 on the waitlist is a clear sign of defeat. 🙁

You're back. It's been a long time since I have seen you in this forum. 🙂 You always have an answer for everything. Thanks for your guidance. 😀 I hope somehow I will get pulled off the AC list soon before all my hair turn gray from waiting. :xf::luck::xf: Also do you think people from AC list from November have a better chance of getting accepted or ranked higher in the waitlist?

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll just keep doing what I've been doing since I've been put on AC, wait and pray, pray and wait. 😀

Yeah, between fam, work, school, church, frat, and 2 campus organizations, I tend to keep busy.😱

No mail today either. At least I got some "gifts" in the mail that I bought for myself to make me feel better. 😛

So I called the office this morning and talked to Jim Granderson. I think its final now. He said ALL the letters were sent out yesterday afternoon. So I am guessing if you live somewhere around SoCal you should receive a letter of some sort from USC either today or tomorrow in the mail. He said that the letters MAY have a "few admittances" hes not sure since another department sends everything out. So basically its going to be a waitlist letter or denial, thats what I think. Since the admitted people already posted earlier this week, I highly doubt that there will be any admittances. Also if you interviewed in March ( I am not sure if Jim Granderson told you guys about how many seats were left, but he said there was approximately 50 seats available.) When I asked him this morning those seats DO NOT include the TAP students (they set their seats aside) BUT, the 50 seats available can go to anyone (meaning anyone on the AC list from the Nov,Jan,Feb interview dates as well as the March one). Hope this helps everyone!

Goodluck to everyone!

When you say no mail.. do you mean you haven't received anything in the mail yet? Or do you mean you got your mail but nothing from USC?

Thank you very much for making this post.

As expected, no mails received last week meant bad news is coming soon. I am not keeping my hopes up anymore. 🙁
Good luck to everyone who is still waiting....

I meant I didn't get anything from USC today. If what you said is true about them mailing things out tomorrow, I won't get anything for them until Friday or Saturday. I have the timing down pact. Everything to or from SoCal takes exactly three days.

Are you giving up and going to another school? 🙁

Well, I don't know.. I guess so... This is my second time applying to USC... I was waitlisted in the end last cycle, and I will be glad if what I get this week is not a denial letter... I like USC, but it doesn't like me apparently. So, I think I will go to a place that likes me...

Yeah, that's understandable. Where are you going if you don't get in?

If I get into USC, I'll be giving up a $2000 deposit too. I think it'll be worth it though.

I already gave up the $2000 for Touro to go to UCSF. And to DarlingNikki's happiness, I would still choose UCSF even if I got pulled off AC for USC. 😛

I hope you hear something back from USC too. If you do end up at Touro, I wish you the best! 🙂

Thank you very much!

Either way, we are going to get our Pharm.D.'s and move on...
I do wish you the best of luck!!! But I hope that we will be classmates at USC... 😀😀😀

Same here. We can reminisce about our hair turning gray from being on Active Consideration for so long while our hair turns gray from all the studying. 😛

So, have you gotten in any school?

i have. i got into cu denver, which i'm excited to go to, but i'm still in limbo with usc. i interviewed in march and haven't received anything, and so i figure i'm either waitlisted or straight up denied. but i won't know till i actually get the letter. so hopefully i'll get a call from my mom back home today or tomorrow. :xf:

Yup me too, no mail today. Most likely it will come tomorrow since it was sent out by USC late yesterday afternoon.

Goodluck everyone!

no mail today. i guess i'll have to wait till tomorrow!

What state do you live in again?

Mississippi. If I get anything at all, it'll be tomorrow or Saturday (if they mailed it off Tuesday afternoon like they said). Let me know if you guys get anything in the Cali area.

Sounds good! Goodluck with everything!!

Just got my wait list letter 😡 But by now I'm pretty used to waiting for USC.

Did it give any details about how many were on the list vs rejected?

It says: "We have reviewed all applicants who were interviewed on March 21, 2009, and those on "active consideration" status. An additional of 30 candidates have been admitted, and 130 candidates have been denied, the "active consideration" group from November to March totals 128."

Same here. Just got my waitlist letter today. Letter was dated 4/14. I interviewed back in Nov.

waitlisted. 🙁 interviewed in march.

WOW...only THIRTY got in after the March interview?? Last year, 77 were offered spots at this point. I guess less people have turned down offers? Not sure what else it could be.
