Hi everyone!!!

My dream school is USC because it is close to home and I want to have the chance to specialize while creating network in Los Angeles. I interviewed with them at the start of December but have not heard back.

I have other acceptances that I need to put deposits for within the next 10 days. Should I mention this in my letter of intent about my 9 other interviews and other acceptances?

No need to indicate you had 9 other interviews. Simply state you have other acceptances but that USC is your dream school ( thoroughly explain why it is) and that you are financially not able to afford a deposit at multiple schools. Hopefully, if they are nice, you can ask for a reply within the next few days and see where you stand with their admissions team.

If, as you suggest, you are an applicant that schools are lined up to have you as a member of their class, it is unlikely that USC is oblivious to your status. If you are willing to shell out ~600K +/- to attend their schools, they may not be overly concerned with your dilema/concerns about shelling out a few/several thousands for deposits. They also are not likely to to be impressed by high pressure tactics/deadlines for response to the loi, as has been suggested.

Thought so. Thanks 🙂

True in some regards, but not all, however. With that said, I got accepted into a couple schools with NYU(extremely expensive) being one of them and orginally was accepted without scholarship. At another dental program, I was accepted with significant scholarship. I simply did my due diligence and reached out to NYU to see if they could match or surpass my scholarship offer. They phoned me and gave me a scholarship soon after. I will not be attending NYU, im just saying sometimes if you try, good things could happen.

A bird of a different feather, but....

USC dental will put you $600,000 in the hole. Specializing will add potentially another $200,000+. Are you independently wealthy? If not, buckle up!

I don’t know if you understand the ramifications of $800,000+ in student loans. You’re looking at almost $60,000/year in interest. And you’ll be paying back those loans with AFTER tax money. You’ll need to earn $80,000/year just to cover your interest. That’s not even touching the principle.

Each school I got into is private around the same cost and at USC I could save 120k living at home
