Books? We have to buy books?!? I'd like to know which books we DON'T have to buy 😀

Do any upper-classmen at USC have a P1 book list?
I'd like to get a head start on buying them. Thanks.

I have some P1 books from 1991.. want it?

j/k

I don't think I bought any books..maybe pharmaceutical calculations..

Well, I did buy Goodman & Gillman.. but that may have been 2nd year..

They're nice museum pieces for the shelves

I emailed some of my professors and 3 of them so far said there were no texts just note packets.

👍 👍 👍

textbooks cost way too much 😡

edit: but I don't go to USC.

hahaha.. I kept most of my undergrad science books and I love arranging all of them on my bookshelf because it makes me seem so intelligent

the only book you need is principles of physiology by berne & levy. you may need the otc book, but you can get by without it.

Which OTC book is that?

I bought the OTC book 1st year....it's probably more useful for reference than for the actual class. The only one for 1st years to buy would be the physiology book and for 2nd year, probably Koda-Kimble or Goodman and Gillman (although I did get by the year without purchasing either of them 😀 )

Goodman & Gillman rocks.. for preparing presentations...if the presentation starts off with a bit of pharmacology background for the audience. Then you can delve into the clinical aspect once the pharmacology has been covered.

During my medicine (cardiology) rotation at USC/LAC.. I gave a presentation on ACE-Inhibtor in MI. Took my time going over the pharmacology of ACE-Inhibitor and pathology of MIC.. then proceeded to give a 1 minute recap of newly published article on ACE-I in MI.

The preceptor was shocked.. She said.."man..your pharmacology and pathology portion was so good.. I was ready for the Big Bang on Ace-Inhibitor..then you fizzled. What up??" 👎
