Awesome thanks! I wish I knew students that went to USF or grad school but unfortunately I don't so that helps a bit

I just looked the USF class of 2016 on facebook and found some students and messaged them for some info if the wanted to. A couple replied

I go to usf and have attended multiple information sessions, the GPA's they put into their calculations are 1) Overall, 2)Upper Division, and 3) Pre Req. They have a different weight on each one, I assume Pre Req is worth more weight.
 
How do you like USF? I am originally from Bradenton but not really familiar with Tampa. I will probably rent a place and not commute are there areas you recommend?
 
Have any of you that have been wait listed received an email from ptcas asking for a background check request? I received and email for a "Conditional Acceptance Background Check Consent Request" but it doesn't tell from which school and I haven't received an acceptance yet. The only thing I could think off is that usf asked for it for their alternate list students...

I got the same email asking for the background consent this morning, not sure what it means but if anyone else does it would be helpful to know
 
I'm guessing they want to make sure they're not wasting spots on the wait list...which I think is messed up, had to pay 75bucks for that background check and it's not even guaranteed I'll get in :/
 
I got an email for this and I was accepted to USF. It is definitely for USF since I think they were the only school in Florida that uses it.

Were you accepted for this cycle? And how did you receive your acceptance, through email or in the mail?
 
Ya for fall 2014. It was through the mail. I received it January 27th or 28th.
 
So I just received an email from usf basically saying that it was a mistake and I don't have to do the background check yet until I actually get accepted off the wait list and of course I got excited and already completed it this morning lol.....awesome because I just have money to blow. Thanks usf for letting me know hours later /:
 
WOW, DoYouEvenPT I did mine too, glad I possibly just wasted 72 dollars doing that...oh well, I guess all we can do now is wait

Apparently this was a mistake. I paid for it and everything and Matt Smith sent an email saying that it was an "internal error" and that it only applies to students who've been accepted to the program. There goes 72 dollars.
 
Does anybody that is attending this fall know where they are going to live in Tampa yet?
 
No idea lol. I was wondering if they were going to release names of people so we could all start figuring out living situation

I love USF, I've been here for 5 years now and love the area. If you want student housing i could recommend some places, or if you want a place that is unfurnished i know a few nice places close to campus as well.
 
Congrats !! Good to hear people are already getting in from the wait list. You just found out today? And did they call you ?

How's the student housing? I lived in some off campus housing at UF and it was loud lol id probably rather live in other areas

Student housing is ok, I live off campus and its much nicer. Im about 10 minutes away, I have my own furniture with my wife, we love our place. And in all honesty the places outside of campus here in Tampa are family oriented and there is never noise at night. The student apartments are all the loud ones lol.

That's what I figured and what I want to stay away from that haha I was looking somewhere around New Tampa but I dont know if costs are higher. Also being in a good area is more of a concern.
 
I will be declining my spot to USF early next week, because I just received my acceptance letter to UF. Hopefully this opens up a spot for someone.
 
This is why it would be nice to know what spot we are in on the waitlist! 😛
 
I think USF is on Spring break now so I believe we have to wait even longer now...i.e those who are still on the waitlist.

If only things worked like that haha. Nova is amazing tho. I just visited the campus last weekend. Beautiful.

i'm like 99% sure. I loved Nova ( the campus is amazing) but I've had my heart set on USF even if people say it's difficult. I love the Tampa area as well and it will give me a little more time to get things together. Not getting the 1000 dollars back from Nova is gonna suck but it will all work itself out in the end.

Quick question:

What are you pros and cons about attending USF?

Pros: biggest one is probably tuition and housing is cheaper than nova. also its closer to home, im from orlando.
Cons: The area and campus isn't as nice, but i dont think that would bother me too much(Ive lived in worse places lol). biggest concern is that ive seen a couple people say that we take organic and biochem woth med students the first year and i havent taken either of those classes in undergrad...

I was trying to look at the curriculum online but it doesnt name the specific classes, I'd love to see the actual class schedule
 
The only con I'm concerned about is how hard the program is. But hey, nothing worth having comes easy!

Very true. I'm sure we'll do fine...as the day went by I'm actually starting to lean more toward usf now, just seems more convenient to me.

Do you know if there is a Facebook group yet?!
